HOw Long?

My DH and I have been TTC for 5 moths I am temping and using OPT. I have had my prog. levels tested and I am definitly ovulating. Sperm analysis was done and fine. Is it possiible for everything to be fine and still take this long? How long did you guys wait befor doing some serious testing. Do I really have to wait 1 year??? I will go crazy!

Re: HOw Long?

Without knowing how old you are it's hard to say.
The guidelines are under 30 a year or so, over 35 six months before going to your OB or an RE.
If there is anything that would make you think something is wrong, then go back to your OB.

Re: HOw Long?

An HSG is a test to see if your fallopian tubes are blocked. Before I even started cycling my doctor ordered this to make sure everything was ok.

Re: HOw Long?

I have had friends have all tests be perfect and it take them 12-18 months to conceive. Its sometimes nothing but timing....

5 months is really not long at all.

If you are over 35, I would see an RE sooner rather then later, but only after 6 months at least of perfect charting and OPK usage.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

I agree with Donna. It can take healthy couples a year to get pg. The waiting is so hard. Good Luck!

I agree, if you're under 35, you can wait a year.

Re: HOw Long?

We waited 2 months!!!! after that I just knew there might be a problem..(had a gutt feeling)..I was right...we are dealing with MF.(I am all fine)...

I am so glad DH was tested because without the testing we would have been wasting precious time.....now we are getting things "fixed" and hopefully are on a way to a BFP!!

Good luck to you!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

At around 8 months I had some bloodwork. At 10 months I had a sonohysterogram. I was having problems with my cycle though, like long irregular cycles with mid cycle spotting. Now it has been 12 months TTCing and I have my first RE appointment this month.

I agree. I don't think there is a guideline anyone should follow except their own. CD 3 tests can be done simply and easily and most OB's would be willing to do this. GL
