Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
I only had it in a hour!
Labor started at 9pm and I had him at 1:25pm. I may have opted out if they actually checked me again. I was probably fuly dialated already!

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
4 hours ...but, that is NOT from when labor started, b/c contractions were not regular and within 4 minutes apart right away. SO, counting from when labor was consistent and building to my daughter's birth = 4 hours.
Plus, this was my second child...not sure it would have gone so fast if it had been my first!

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
I did not know I was having contractions since I was only 33 weeks. From the time I headed to the hospital to when DD was born, was only about 2 hours. My water broke in the car on the way to the hospital, and it was moving too fast for them to give me anything

My first was 7 hours from when my water broke and with my second it was 1 1/2 hours . I am not trying for #3 but I would be afraid I would have it at home

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
1st time - 14 hours from start to finish, 3-5 hours of hard labor
2nd time - 1.5 hours start to finish, only a 1/2 push

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
5 hours - I was admitted at 3pm and after a 1/2 hour of pushing, DD was born at 8:11pm. I would say the real pain kicked in at 7cm. But then they broke my water and I dialated very quickly.

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
19 hours of regular contractions every 5 min or so. Started around 9:00 pm, went to the hospital around 3:30 am and was 100% effaced and 4 cenimeters at around 5:00 am. 10 cm by 1:00 pm, DS born at 2:30 pm. He was slow!
I used Hypnobabies and it really helped.

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
23 hours of contractions every 2-3 minutes. They didn't get painful until the last 12 hours, after my water broke. I had a couple doses of staydol to help me rest but I still woke up for each contraction and it wore off by the time I started pushing.

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
I used Bradley & denial that I was in labor. No pain medication needed at all.

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
Mild labor started the night before... The few hours before delivery was the intense labor. Would go ALL natural - no EPI again in a heartbeat

Re: Ladies who DID NOT get an epi
2 hours hard labor with DD # 1 45 minutes hard labor with DD #2
Early labor and 2nd phase lasted a few hours but the pian was 100% tolerable. I walked, raked leaves, walked some more, and ran up stairs. All this brought contractions on even more.
I chose not to have an EPI. It was my own personal choice and I don't regret it for one minute. It doensn't make me super women b/c I chose to go all natural. You do what you have to do. Whatever makes you more comfortable then do it!
Good luck to you!!!

Not sure exactly how long I was having contractions... but once my water broke, I had her about 3 hours later.

4 1/2 hours from start of labor to her birth
Me too on May 5th! But he was my 3rd.
DD was 11 hours. She was my 2nd
My 1st DS was with a wasted epi. It took them 45 mins to do and after they were done I was already 10cm. My contractions with him started at 10 am. They then out the pit on me and inbetween started the epi. He was born at 2:45 pm. I went fast pretty much with all of them.
What really helped me though through labor without the epi was taking showers.

4 hours from first contraction. I dilated too quick to get one. I went from 4 cm to 10 within a hour.
