Update...it's been a while
Hi Ladies,
It's been several weeks since I last posted and to be honest, I haven't had the strength to come back on this board until now. I got to know some of you while I was on the boards and because of this, wanted to give you an update on my situtation.
Unfortunately, my story did not have a happy ending. As some of you may (or may not) recall, I had a 'red flag' come back on my ultrascreen, in which the baby's neck was measuring thicker than the doctors wanted to see. Then, the bloodwork came back indicating the need for further testing. To make a long story short, my doctor ordered a CVS test in which they were able to definitively diagnose that I was carrying a child with Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome). This was at 13 weeks. I ended up miscarrying at 15 weeks. I'm 29 so I was baffled by this as I was under the misconception that this can only really happen to women 35+.
It's now been about a month since the m/c and the "good news", if there is any, is that the genetic counselor confirmed it was a "fluke" with no need for further testing. While I am still trying to come to terms with all of this, I do look forward to someday TTC again and joining you lovely ladies on this board once again.
