off to aruba
(I edited the title since I'm not freaking out anymore...)
I went to the RE today. Got some blood drawn and had an internal sono to see if I ovulated.
While there, RE mentioned that I wasn't immune to rubella and should get that remedied as soon as possible, and that she didn't want me to TTC until I was immune (and that I'd have to wait a month after the vaccine).
So my cycle timing worked out that if I got vaccinated before my next AF, I wouldn't have to skip a cycle.
Now, I'm on day 62 (!) so AF could come at any time, and I'm leaving for Aruba tomorrow so I rushed to my Dr this afternoon for the vaccination.
THEN, I get a call from my RE saying my HCG levels are elevated (!), but only slightly (?) AND the "spot" they saw on my left ovary is a follicle (17mm) not a cyst. They want me to come in tomorrow to see if my HCG goes up or down - could be a chemical, could be an ectopic, who knows?
Now answer me this - how could I be preggo, if I haven't ovulated yet (hence the folli),
So I'm freaking out that: a- I *might* be preggo b- I just got the rubella vaccine (after scouring the internet, I learned its only a precaution to not get vaccinated while preggo - there have been no known cases of problems occuring) c-I may have an ectopic pregnancy and wind up in the Aruba emergency room.
I bouce back and forth between being optimistic and excited that I may have actually ovulated (or may soon) and/or that I may be preggo, to freaking out about birth defects and ectopics...HELP
You KNOW I'm POAS everyday in ARUBA! but I'm not sure which results I want to see!

Re: FREAKING OUT!!!
OMG-What a situation! I dont know what to tell you?? I would try to get AS many answers as possible NOW before Aruba. What were your HCG's? Call and ask, and have another sono....maybe they can see it more. I would think at 17 they could see it well enough?
Thats so nuts, and I heop that you get answers ASAP!

Re: FREAKING OUT!!!
THE OFFICE IS CLOSED NOW!
I didn't find out what my actual levels were. I was so shell shocked, that I forgot to ask, and when I called back with a list of questions, they were closed.

Re: FREAKING OUT!!!
OH my gosh, that is a lot of information to try and digest... no wonder you are freaking out, I would be beside myself
Have you POAS, are you getting positives on HPTs?? You could have already ovulated (even though you are on CD60something) and not known it, and gotten PG. OR the follie might be a sign that you are about to ovulate, in which case enjoy that vacation
I wish you could have gotten the numbers from the HcG reading.. though I'm not sure why else it would be elevated even slightly (that is, unless you had a cyst, or PCOS, which can elevated your hcg levels I believe.. i could be wrong on that)
Ugh - know you already said the office is closed, and I understand that.. but does your doctor have an emergency number, someone on call, someway to get paged - anything? Maybe they'd tell you to go to the ER and they can do another sono and see if you are , in fact, PG? I would honestly feel so so nervous to travel to Aruba with all these questions marks in your mind, but at the same time if you could get a more specific answer, you would know what next steps to take. The thought of being outside the US and worrying if you are newly PG or not entirely certain WHAT is going on with your health is a scary thing, so I think you should try to get some answers before you leave - or go back to your RE tomorrow and push the trip off perhaps?
I surely hope that the cause of all this is a BFP so good luck and keep us posted

Re: FREAKING OUT!!!
I suggested getting more tests done this afternoon, but they said it wouldn't matter. That they'd need at least 24 hours between the tests. They didn't seem that concerned - saying it was most likely a chemical since the levels were low (I wish I had the #s)
But what I don't get is, since I still have a folli that has yet to O, how can I be preggo - thats the million dollar question! I asked her that too, and she reinterated that thats another indication of a chemical.
I am *slightly* poly-cystic (only indicator being the my LH is slightly higher than FSH), so maybe thats the cause?
I dunno. I POAS last night and got a BFN. I'll try again later and tomorrow morning, and I'm bringing a box with me

Re: FREAKING OUT!!!
Hmm Lisa, I am not sure what's going on. But you can ovulate twice. Are they sure that what they saw was a follicule and not the corpus luteum ? Did they see the corpus luteum at all ? If you are pg, the corpus luteum would be present. If you are getting bfn's on your hpts, you probably have less than 25 miu's of hcg. Definitely keep taking the hpt. I am not sure why they 'scared' you with the ectopic. Why do they think it's ectopic .... ? Are you in pain at all ? Do you have a chart you can share...this sounds a little out of the ordinary. How many dpo are you ?

I didn't chart this cycle. And as far as I knew (and according to prior bloodwork), there was no indication that I O-ed at all. I really don't think I'm preggo - but what else would account for the elevated HCG?
They did say there was a follicle and not the corpus luteum - I don't think they saw a CL.
I'm not in any pain, and I just got another BFN. But a positive OPK (which is a first!)
I've calmed down now, and I think I'm just going to try to forget ever getting this call and enjoy my vacation (in between POAS - both OPKs and HPTs!).
We'll know more when I get back.

Re: FREAKING OUT!!!
I don't know and don't have any advice for you.
As Felicia said, you have a lot to digest and I know I'd be freaking out too.
I would scour around for an emergency number for the doctor. So many doctors take these cicumstances as "run of the mill" because they treat dozens of cases every month but they fail to realize it is our body and our emotions... and it is unique and a roller coaster ride for every woman. If I were you this would be an emergency to me... son't let them dismiss you with a comment about how it's no big deal or whatever thhey are going to say. It is a big deal because it is happeneing to you!!
I wish you luck.

Re: off to aruba
Holy cow, don't know what to say. First, enjoy your trip, I am so jealous!
Second, I swore I did not ovulate my last cycle, and my CBE monitor never gave me peak fertility either. When AF was late, I tested. BFN. Another week went by and I test again and got a real faint line. For some reason, it was taking a while to register on a HPT.
I hope you can enjoy your trip and hopefully have some wonderful news for us when you get back.
ETA:
Duh, the real reason I wanted to post is because in my first pregnancy with Andrew, the bloodwork came back and I was not immune to rubella or toxoplasmosis. Doc just warned me to stay away from school age children who may have come into contact with German measles. He told me my risks declined after I was out of my first trimester. My OB said he would give me the vaccination right in the hospital after Andrew was born. Well, I never got it.
So now, I am back to #2 and was never vaccinated. I hope everything is fine this time too.
