Bed Rest
Hello,
I had IVF done and put 2 embies in. Both took and one of them split and now I am carrying 3 (which my dr. advises that I do not attempt to carry). Anyway, I started bleeding yesterday and a sono showed that Baby C (one of the identicals) was measuring a little smaller than A and B and the hb was faint. A and B looked good. My dr. seems to think that I am probably losing Baby C, and since they might be in the same sac, I could also lose Baby B. He feels pretty good about Baby A. So, his opinion is that I'll end up with one or two.
He did say that once I hit 14 weeks, if I am carrying more than 1 that I will be put on bed rest. Has anyone else been put out so early?

Re: Bed Rest
I am so sorry for what you are going through. Since it si so early, I think it is still too early to tell if the identicals are in the same sack. I realy hope everything works out for you, I will keep you and your babies in my thoughts.
Was he talking strict bed rest, or limited bed rest, since I think limited is not as bad. Good Luck!!!!

Re: Bed Rest
No, I was never put on bedrest. I did bleed for the first 11 weeks of my pregnancy and baby B (Christopher) was lagging behind in the beginning but caught up. I also know that there is a such thing as a vanishing twin. Im sorry this is happening to you God Bless those little miracles of yours

Re: Bed Rest
Thank you. It's definately a difficult time, but I have to have faith that it will all work out. I'll know more next week when I go for another sono. If by 6/5, I am still carrying 3, I'll have to go to a high risk perinatologist in the city and discuss all the options and the game plan.
I don't know technically what the difference between limited and strict, but what he said seemed pretty strict. Basically, limiting myself to the bed or couch, no parties, etc. I asked him if I can lay out on the lounge chair in my backyard and he said "We'll talk about it", but he was smiling so I think he was just busting my chops.

Re: Bed Rest
I have faith that this will work out too! I hope for the best for you and your babies!
I was put on bed rest at 24 weeks - I delivered at 36. I had to lay down most of the day - getting up to go to the bathroom and to eat. I did have to walk around a little - so I wouldn't get any clots, etc. At 35 weeks I "took myself" off bed rest - went to parties, dinner, shopping, cleaned the house, etc. I guess that's why I went into labor at 36.
Good luck and definitely keep us posted!

Re: Bed Rest
Keeping you in my prayers. i was more or less put on bedrest at 33 weeks and had them at 36 weeks. I sat around all day sleeping, reading, watching movies, talking on the phone. It sucks going through it but in the end so worth it. Good luck.

Keeping you and your beans in my prayers.
ETA: I read your post on infertility. We have a good family friend who was pregnant with triplets after doing IVF who also had a toddler at the time. Unfortunately, you are right, the risks with triplets are much higher. She had her IVF done at NSUH Manhasset and they referred her to Great Neck OB/GYN, a practice that specializes in high risk multiple pregnancies and is #2 in the country for delivering triplets. It was the practice I used and a few other multiple mommas I know. All of the doctors are very skilled with multiples and high risk and they take insurance. They are located on Nothern Blvd. in Great Neck not far from the hospital.
FM me if you need more info.
