Anyone exercise with a weighted hula hoop?

I just started using my weighted hula hoop again. I used it before we got married to trim my waist. Now I have to lose weight and inches. I like it because it deons't feel like working out and it works my mid section.

Anyone have any success?

Danielle

I found this article:
Weighted Hula Hoop Burns More CaloriesMay 14 - Remember playing with a hula-hoop when you were young? Well, some fitness experts say it's not just child's play, but a new way to strengthen yourself to physical fitness.

We've all tried to hula-hoop at some time or another. But did you ever think of using this childhood favorite as a fitness tool? Wendy Iverson did.
Looking to take her hula workout to a new level, Iverson created a weighted version twirling the popular toy into a strength and aerobic trainer.

Wendy Iverson, fitness trainer: "The stomach muscles are actually contracting. So you're working the frontal abs, you're working the obliques, your side stomach muscles and you're getting the back, all in that circular pattern. But of course we're working the hips, we're working the glutes because of the position we're in and then the upper body. You can't put those arms down so what we do is we start adding in punches and stretches and you're twisting against the weight of that hoop."

The result is a dual packed cardio and strength workout. Best of all, it's an enjoyable way to sweat your way to success.

If that isn't enough to inspire you, a study by the Cooper Institute shows one minute of vigorous hula-hooping burns as many calories as running an eight-minute mile or doing a high-impact aerobics class.

Funny you post this...
Yesterday we cleaned out our garage and I took mine out.
The poor thing has laid on it's side for so long that was flat on one side!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyway, I must get back to doing this. The only thing I don't like is the initial bruising.

No...believe it or not it's not the grooved one. I should break it out again... It's the ONLY way I can hula hoop!Chat Icon
