Excellence Punta Cana

Has anyone been there? any pros or cons you could share? are there any excursions to do??? TIA

i'm pretty sure they're closing that location. right now, the only bookable one, i believe is in mexico but they're opening more in the next year or so.

i believe they're closing down more towards the end of the year, but I could be totally wrong. It's a vague recollection since I am totally interested in visiting secrets and have looked at their website constantly. you are going to have an AMAZING time!!! Check out trip advisor.

I think it used to be called Secrets Excellence but now it is just called Excellence, but it is the same thing, just a different company owns it.

We went two years ago and absolutely loved it!

It used to be a Secrets resort but is no longer. I don't believe it's closing down, just changed ownership ... hence why the name was changed to just "Excellence" (not "Secrets Excellence").

We actually just went there in April. Very gorgeous! It used to be Secrets Excellence and is now just Excellence. We didn't hear anything about them closing down. Maybe people are thinking of when they changed names? Not sure. But I emailed them through their website to ask if there was any construction during our visit since they changed names and they wrote back fairly quickly. I have some pros and cons. It was gorgeous and we'd never been to an all-inclusive, so it was nice to expereince that. Cons...The service was terrible the first couple days, but great on the last day and a half. Terrible meaning there wasn't a single waiter/staff member to be found at the pools or loung areas, which was annoying since they advertise you being waited on hand and foot. We're thinking (and hoping) it was because we went over Easter vacation, which is "Holy Week" down there, and they take it very seriously and perhaps were understaffed. And the food was so-so, though we heard that's typical of all-inclusive places. But hey...endless drinks. ;)

I am aghast to hear this....we HM there in 2004 and had a WONDERFUL Time. The accomodations were amazing, the food was delicious, the service was impeccable.

They had a nice variety of excursions....one to the capitol of the country which was an all day one....

I think they had the ATV jungle tour
a sailing trip to a remote island for the day
dolphin swim (we did that and it was ok....we expected a lot more out of it)
horseback riding on the beach at night (additional $$ to the riding that was included during the day but booked up fast).

Thanks for all your input girls ...I've been on trip adviser and it seems to be getting tons of great reviews....I can't wait to go!!!!

We are going for our honeymoon in August! We went on tripadvisor too and didn't see as many negatives as other places!

I havent heard anything about them closing down. I usually get an industry email when something like would be happening. But it is true it used to be Secrets Excellence and is now just Excellence.
