Whoopi Goldberg to Replace Rosie on 'The View?'

According to Star Magazine, the favorite to replace Rosie O'Donnell on 'The View' is Whoopi Goldberg.

"As far as everyone at ABC is concerned, she has the job," a network insider confirms to Star Magazine. "They have been meeting with Kathy Griffin, Roseanne Barr, Ricki Lake and Gayle King." While Kathy was a strong contender, Whoopi has won everyone over."

Considering the source is Star Magazine, you can take this tidbit of info and make your own conclusions from it.

But Goldberg on 'The View' would be a great choice for that show.

It would fill the void of a strong black woman that they never replaced when Star Jones Reynolds flashed the deuces and left abruptly last year.

Plus, Whoopi would keep the conservative Elizabeth Hasselbeck in check as we inch closer to the '08 elections.

Nothing has been officially announced," the insider tells Star. "But it is 99 percent Whoopi at this point. They will have a few guest hosts throughout the summer but the executives and producers at The View are set on Ms. Goldberg to start in the fall."

ugh, I can't stand her on KTU , I can't even listen to it in the morning. I will never watch the view again if she goes on

Gayle King has been awful on the view this week. She is soooooo boring, even Joy was bored. I hope thay do not hire her to replace Rosie.......

I dont know who makes the decisions about who to put on the show, but that person needs to be fired ( and I think it's Barbara Walters too). I just dont get her choices.

The best the show was ever was when it first started with Lisa Ling, Meredith Veira, Starr Jones , Joy and Barbara. To me, they all were educated, represented different views and had valid ideas and opinions. Now they have Elisabeth, who is an idiot, and than Rosie, who although I didnt hate her I didnt really like her either.

They need to find someone good to try and reclaim the show, but I dont think they ever will.
