We wound up buying in the Charlotte area, but I can tell you...try renting your car through Priceline.com. We managed to secure a rental car last month when we closed, and it cost us $18 per day!!!!

Try this site: You can also change the search to Cary.

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on Wake Towne Rd. Check the Marriott site. It was clean, affordable and close to Wake Forest.
Good luck.

I didn't make any appointments. I worked with a realtor who set everything up for us.
We drove down so we didn't need to rent a car. My aunt and uncle flew down and the rented a car right at the Raleigh airport.
We stayed at a HORRIBLE hotel- Holiday Inn at Raleigh North. SO gross and not a great area- 10 minutes out of Downtown Raleigh. Only plus was that it was right on US1 (Capital Blvd), which is the main drag. Next time we were told to stay at the Holiday Inn Crabtree (near the Crabtree Mall in Wake Forest).

We just looked online for new home builders in the area and looked at their model homes. I also looked with a wonderful Real Estate agent here on LIF.
