Where to have Christening?
Any advcie on where or what we can do to keep it cheap?
We really cannot afford to have a nice party at a restuarant right now, but DH wants to have DS christened soon.
Any ideas?
Any REALLY cheap places we could have it?
We only know one person with a yard and they offered, but it might be just as much to have it there and would be a lot of work and if it rains, their house is not large enough for more then a few people.
I tried looking into VFW type places and Im getting no where.
ANyone have ideas or suggestions?
Thanks very much.

What do you consider "cheap" or what price range are you looking for?

Re: Where to have Christening?
you could try a Knights Of Colombus. They have varying packages you could get. Of coarse limiting the alcohol saves a lot.
I only really know Nassay. What about one of the firehouse clubs. I know in Bellmore, the one on Newbridge has the Vamps club and the one on Petit has a room as well (al least I think they do, I haven't been there in years.)
I would also suggest, depending on the amount of people a Chinese resturant. I have been to a few functions at Chinese restaurants that were really nice and not too pricey

Re: Where to have Christening?
We just went out to dinner with our immediate family (which was NOT cheap) then had coffee and cake and told whoever wanted to come, they could come for coffee and cake.
How about just making a nice meal at your parents or ILs house, is that's possible.

Re: Where to have Christening?
I never post...but always reading and I thought that I could be some help... Last year I had my step-daughters communnion at the Knights of Columbus in Farmingdale (it is 1 Morton Street, off of Rt 109) I want to say it was like $350 or $400 for the room. It had a full kitchen and we saved money by bringing our own food, dessert, and drinks. It was a nice room that we decorated with balloons and table cloths... it is definately worth a look...the phone number is 631-755-2204.
Oh... I also live in Lindenhurst and it was really easy and convenient to get to.

Re: Where to have Christening?
We had ours in our backyard b/c I was sick of paying so much money to have parties out. We catered with Guy Anthony's and they charged $15 p.p and got a ton of food and it was excellent. We had about 60 people so I rented a table, tent and chairs but to save money you really dont need the tent. What about even just doing a BBQ?

Re: Where to have Christening?
Ohhhhhhh I have the place for you. Go to Villa DAvanzo on Montauk Highway in Amityville (across from Dolphin Fitness) and speak to Anthony. We found this place by luck when we were looking for our rehearhsal dinner site in October. For around $20-$23 p/p you get a salad, pasta and 5 choices (huge portions) bottled beer and wine. For less money you can deduct the alcohol. They have a prive room and the service is excellent. You bring your own dessert and they cut and serve it with coffe, tea or cappacino. We go to Costco and get a cake for $15 that serves an army. We have since had 4 other parties there and have recommeded them numerous times. Even if you just go for dinner prior to booking, you wont be disappointed. Good luck

I did the same. He was only 3 weeks, I did not want a lot of people around him anyway.
