I have "unexplained" infertility, based upon the tests that i have had so far. My tubes are clear, DH's semen analysis was normal, all my hormone levels are in range, and I ovuate on my own. I have a "textbook" cycle. The only thing tests have shown is that I have a septate uterus, but this does not usually impact fertlity.

The RE wants to start me on Clomid. I thought this drug was used to stimulate ovulation in women who don't ovulate on thier own. What would be the benefit of taking it and has anyone who does ovulate on thier own ever taken it?

Re: Clomid

I also have "unexplained" infertility and the extact same things as you - tubes are clear, DH's semen analysis normal, all my hormone levels in in range, etc. but i do not have a septate uterus.

MY RE also put me on Clomid - first 50mg and now 100 - although it does stimulate ovulation, it is also used to time ovulation and stimulate the number of follicles you produce. That way the doctor can better time ovulation for IUI.

I agree! More follies = better chances of success. Not only are there more, but they are supposedly better quality, too.

If you do a search on here, there are many threads re: Clomid.
A lot of women are prescribed Clomid to increase the number and quality of the follicles.
