Baby shower for baby #2
My best friend wants to have a baby shower for me...and my 2nd baby is due in Oct...since this pregnancy is so high risk. The only thing is, i just had a baby in May of 2006...the other thing is that both are/will be girls. We don't know what to do. I dont really need anything, there are a few things that i would like since I didn't get them with the other baby. Let me know what you think.

I don't think it is bad idea.
Instead of it being called baby shower.
Have a welcome baby party

Re: Baby shower for baby #2
I am throwing my sister a small get together. This is her second baby, my first niece was born last July. This baby will be a girl as well so she doesn't really need anything. But I think all babies should be celebrated so on the invitation I wrote that their presence not their presents is requested. I didn't want anyone to feel like the needed to get a gift when this time last year she had a shower and lots of gifts.

Re: Baby shower for baby #2
I dk the rules...I did see someone on here call a second shower a sprinkle. I had a shower for my twins but my shower before that was 11 years before. Imho--do what u want and your sister..if they want to come they can--if not let them stay home.

If you do it, keep it small.

Re: Baby shower for baby #2
When my neighbor had her 4th (all boys ages 8, 5, 19 months and 6weeks) we just took her out to dinner and then all chipped in and got her the few things she didnt have/or needed.
We made it more of a baby celebration than a shower...we also kept it impromptu..made phone calls instead of invites and only very close people.

Re: Baby shower for baby #2
If you just had a baby last year, and this one is a girl also, I would not have a shower...
In my eyes, if it was a difference of 4 or 5 years, I would think a Sprinkle would be appropriate, as stroller and car seat and crib standards may change...but having children a year apart, I know I would not attend a second shower.

Re: Baby shower for baby #2
If you want to have one then have one. If they are close to you they are going to come regardless, not to mention that they would probably be getting you a gift anyway so might as well get you something that you need. I dont see anything wrong with it. If it makes u feel better then make it small and dont call it a baby shower

Have you asked your Mom, other friends and family what they think?

Re: Baby shower for baby #2
i am on the same sit. and i am not having a shower my close family and friends have said they are going to help us by buying us a few things we need like a new carseat a double stroller etc. but no formal shower. i have been to 2nd showers and i dont see a problem with it but i know some people do. I think the birth of a baby should always be celebrated in some way i guess it just depends on you and your family.
