when you found out that you were pregnant...
and called the doctor, did you go in right away or did they make an appointment for you at the 7-8 week mark? i called my doctor today (just got a BFP today) and they told me to come in on Oct. 25. I was just curious because i have heard that people go in as soon as they find out and do some tests. thank you

They had me come in at the 7-8 week mark too. They did send me for bloodtest to confirm the pregnancy. Some insurance companies don't recognize the pregnancy unless it's confirmed by bloodtest. But they may do everything for you all in one visit. My dr's office doesn't draw blood.

My friend goes to the same dr and told me that he wouldn't see me until 7-8 weeks, so I called for a regular appointment (it was about 6 months since my last one) and while I was there *mentioned* to the dr I thought I was pg and he said it felt like my cervix was softening and they did a blood test. I fibbed  and said I took a pg test that day since I realized my period was about 1 week late. I just couldn't wait for confirmation. He had me come back like a month later for bloodwork, etc.

Congratulations!    
I took the pregnancy test on a Friday night and saw the doctor that Monday morning. I was 6 weeks and one day. I had an internal sonogram and a few other tests done when I went in. I suppose every doctor's office is different and I guess it depends on how booked they are when you call for an appt.

They told me that I couldn't come in until I was 7 weeks but that I could come in to confirm with a blood test... Congrats!

I went in a week later for more blood and a sono, only because I was going to a fertility specialist.

Most doctors really don't want you to come in so early and they wait until you are 8-9 weeks.
If you have had a problem getting pregnant and have been seeing a RE, they have you come in earlier to confirm the pregnancy. Also, if you have a family history, they might want you to come in earlier.
When I got my BFP, they weren't giving me an appt until my 7th week, Unfortunely, I had some bleeding so they moved up my appt and saw me during my 5th week and went back for my sonogram during my 6th week.
So, yes it is normal for most doctors to wait. 
You might be able to call and see if they can just draw some blood to confirm your pregnancy. I couldn't do that, cause I was going to a new doctor, so I had to have the first consult

Congrats! My office makes you wait until 2 missed periods. I remember being so upset and confused when they told me that. I had just wanted a dr to say it out loud - I think.

My doctor had me come in a few weeks after I called- I was at week 6 when I came in and called him 2 days after I missed AF.

CONGRATS! 
I got my BFP on a Sunday and called my doc on Monday. The secy didn't want to give me an appt until I was 8 weeks along. I told her no that I wanted to come in to confirm the PG with a blood test and she said fine. She gave me an appt for that Thursday. In addition to taking blood, my doc gave me a different pre natal vitamin.

Congratulations!!!
I got my BFP on a Thursday. Was able to go into the Doctor on that next Wed. for the blood test. She also gave me new pre-natal vitamins.
Then next week, during my 7th week I have my 1st sono and Doctor's appt.

I called as soon as I got my faint line (a line's a line) and got my appt. 2 days later. At that point I was only 5 weeks preggers and they did a sono and we got to see the heartbeat! I think all Dr.'s are different.

Congrats...
most of the time you'll get an appt at the 7-8 week mark so that you can see a heartbeat during the sonogram.
I went in a few days after my 2nd BFP to do bloodwork because we miscarried the first time and I had asked them over the phone if there was anything preventative I could do or things I should avoid--they suggested coming in to do bloodwork.
