Other than missing a few spots (which I can deal with!!), apparently some of the very fine mist ran down my ankles and feet!!! ARGH!!!!!

Anyone have any successful home remedies to remove?

I scrub hard with a facecloth or put rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and scrub with that!

What kind are you using these days?

hah!

i tried a new product last week and lets just say i'll never stray from my natural glow again!

The ONLY THING that took the spray streaks off my skin (I had it in my toes, ankles, etc) was the MAGIC ERASER. Now, I don't know what kinda chemicals are in that crazy little thing, but I used it a week ago and my legs are still there, so I'm guessing its ok.

I used a sample of L'Oreal Sublime Glow at CVS and liked it ... and it had a $1 off coupon.

The color is nice but it's just where it leaked down my ankles!!! I probably over-sprayed. You can't really see where you've already sprayed, so I may have over done it a little and that's why there was run-off.

I'd definitely recommend it to "experienced" self spray tanners though.

I saw online to try peroxide, facial bleach or even lemons. Just wondered if anyone tried those or had better solutions!!

Re: Self tanners - any *secrets* for removal of screw ups?

Watch out for the Magic Eraser! I found this:

I’d love to say I really thought about it, but I didn’t. I just assumed these products were mildly abrasive or something, they felt so soft, I didn’t really know how they got the scuffs and crayon marks off the walls. When the Easy Erasing Pad came in contact with my son’s face, he sustained injuries that appeared to be burns. There were tiny blisters like you get when you’ve got a really bad sunburn. Later, as the injury started to heal it looked more like an abrasion, or a scrape.

I searched the internet for “Magic Eraser Burn” and turned up several results. One mentioned calling the Poison Control. I called our Pediatrician, but got sent to the answering machine. So I called our Emergency Room. They told me to call Poison Control.

The Poison Control tech stated that Magic Erasers (and products like them, like the Scotchbrite pads we were using) have a pH of 8 - 10 and can cause chemical burns.

We were instructed to irrigate our son’s face with tepid water for 20 minutes. The water irrigation was very soothing, and he stopped crying. We were then instructed to go to the ER. The ER doctor made sure it didn’t look like it was going to scar and told us to use Aloe Vera gel and Polysporin.

The Aloe Vera gel stung, as did the Polysporin and other burn creams. So we continued dabbing his face with wash cloths dipped in cool water.

The first night was pretty bad, the next morning he woke up swollen, unable to move his lips very well. But later that day, the burns or scrapes or whatever they were started to heal. Thin scabs formed and I was able to use the Polysporin.

It only took a few days for the injuries to heal, his skin is fine now.

Wendy-
Not sure if it's too late now, but when I worked at the spa & used to apply the stuff on people (Chat Icon ), it would sometimes get on my arms/hands and the only thing that would really get it off (I tried lemon, alcohol, every exfoliant under the sun, ...) was bleach. I'd pour it on & wash it off immediately under running water. The tanner would come right off. It's strong but it worked. I'd wash my hands w/ soap & water immediately after. Since you have the tanner on your body, you have to watch that you don't get a line where you rinsed it off- get me?
Try a diluted mixture of bleach & water maybe?
HTH.

Hope you're not looking like an oompa-loompa anymore.
