cruises and sea sickness

I"ve never been on a cruise and we're thinking of going on one soon. I don't want to take any meds since we'll be TTC. Should I worry?

We've been on 8 cruises and never had a serious issue. I always pack motion sickness pills and just once did we need them.

There are other remedies that do not include drugs - ginger, sea bands.

the sea bands work pretty well. i had no problem cruising out of florida - felt like i was on land most of the time. cruising out of NJ was a different story - the atlanic was rough. i used the sea bands and it helped. people who are really prone to sea sickness had a worse time of it. but also the weather wasn't perfect. i've heard people say their cruises out of NJ/NY were fine. so all in all, wherever you're crusing, i wouldn't worry!

I went on a cruise for my honeymoon and I never felt sick. I could feel the movement of the boat but it never bothered me.

went on a cruise for my HM -and we got very sick-no throwing up, but the naseua was unbearable. we ended up getting this medicine from lady on the ship-you put it behind ur ears and it stops... OMG. it worked SO good.

our ship was also small, only 600 people......

On our Alaskan cruise we had 35 ft seas...the whole boat was puking. We were fine - I took ONE dramamine and we both used sea bands.

I used the patch behind the ear. I never even gave the sea sickness a chance to start. I was on a calm ship, but I could tell by the slight motion that I still would have gotten sick without the patch. I would go again and do the exact same thing. The patch caused dry mouth but drinks and bottled water are always available on the boat. As for TTC, ask your doctor if it even matters. There are some drugs that are not a concern until after you are at least 6-10 weeks pregnant.

I only get sick on small ships and boats. As soon as we started going on bigger ships I was fine.

I have been on several cruises and only got sick once (one time on my first cruise and that's because the water was VERY rough)

I take ONE bonine a day "just in case" and I have never had a problem since

As others have mentioned, they have patches for behind the ears and writstbands too

I always bring Bonine with me. Seabands are great.

I've been on four cruises. The ONLY one I ever got sick on was our honeymoon cruise- and I swear it was because our rooms were in the front of the boat. If we were anywhere else on the boat I was fine, as soon as we went to our room I got sick. We were ALL the way in the front. I think we were getting the side to side waves as well as the up and down waves as we pushed forward.

I recommend asking for a room in the middle of the boat, not too high. Whenever we were in a mid-ship room we had NO problems at all.

Bigger ships have better equalizers as well. Good luck- you'll love it!
