Channel 2 news did a piece on seperating twins in the school district. Some states have a law where within the first 2 weeks of school u have a right to request your twins stay in the same class. (Not N.Y.) as of yet. Iit said...it benefits same sex twins and identicals. (according to the parents of these twins)
I caught the end of it--just thought I would pass the website if anyone was interested in looking.

Re: http://www.twinslaw.com
I want my girls to go in seperate classes. They are forever going to be "the twins". At least if they are in seperate classes they will be individual.

The nassau county mothers of twins club has been sending its members a bunch of info on this. I've sent a few letters to the congressmen.

Re: http://www.twinslaw.com
As hard as it will be for me, I want my boys separated after Kindergarten (if not for that year). I've had twins in my class and I feel as if their learning is stifled b/c they rely too heavily on one another.
I do, however, believe that the choice should be in the hands of the parents.

I agree that there needs to be legislation because it should be addressed on a case by case basis.

Re: http://www.twinslaw.com
I think it should be what is best for the children, there should not be a blanket decision one way or the other.
I have read several articels of the issue of having different teachers and different grading systems affecting grades and self esteem.

As a twin, I can tell you that the best thing for both of us was to be put in separate classrooms. It was when I finally had my own identity.

Yup. A blond haired, blue-eyed cheerleader is the ideal counterpart to the brown-haired, geeky staight A student.

Speaking as a twin....I agree with this. My sister and I were always in different classes...except one math class in 8th grade we were together...it was terrible. I never could get away with saying "I didn't know what the homework was"
