Our final offer was not accepted

we put in our final offer on a house we really liked and the seller did not accept it. They refuse to come down much from their asking price. We feel that they are asking way to much for this house...it's only a 2 bedroom and needs some updating on the inside...Oh well, we tried. I'm just bummed out. We told our realtor to keep us posted in case they do finally come down after a couple of weeks. We'll see.

Re: Our final offer was not accepted

When DH and I were house hunting we had many disappointments similar to the one you described. Sellers hold firm to their prices for many different reasons. Usually it's because they need to clear a certain amount of money after their legal and agent's fees. If it makes you feel better, DH and I bid on a house, our offer was rejected, we found a better house, and the seller that rejected our offer ended up selling their house for 20K less than what we offered. Remember to always ask how long a house has been on the market. When a house is new to the market the seller is usually less negotiable. Hang in there!

You never know. Same thing happened to us and two weeks later they came back and accepted our final offer. I know how you feel!
