Safe All Inclusives
Ok, so I am trying to book a trip, but I am so anxious and nervous. I've heard some scary things, and I don't know what to do. Is Mexico, Jamaica, D.R...safe???? Is someplace like the Bahamas safer? I've never been to any of these places, so I am just a little worried. Can anyone suggest a nice all inclusive thats not too expensive, but still safe?
Thank you.

Re: Safe All Inclusives
We went to Sandals St. Lucia and Jamaica and I felt very safe at both places. I think that the all inclusives themselves are safe, it's outside of the resort that you need to be more careful.

Re: Safe All Inclusives
I went to DR and felt far from safe. I would never go back here again. I saw more guns in 1 hour then I have in my life and I work for the police department. I have been to mexico before and stayed in busy tourist areas and felt safe. I have been to the Bahamas 3 times and never once felt uncomfotable. These are just based on my experience. I would say Mexico (busy toursit area only) or Bahamas. Good Luck!!

we have been to Jamaica, DR and Mexico and I have never felt unsafe... I would recommend Iberostar hotel chain if you decide to go to either Mexico or Dominican Republic...

Re: Safe All Inclusives
LOVE the Couples resort chain in Jamaica! I love Jamaica and felt completely safe walking along the beach. We never did anything stupid like going off to strange bars alone at night, but I felt totally safe at the all inclusive and on any excursions they led. It is affordable too--they are running a special right now.

I love Jamaica! Once you are at the resort, you are fine! In Mexico I like the Playa del Carmen-South of Cancun (Riveria Maya) area. If you go to the main strip of Cancun, that is safe too.

I would say the same areas of mexico. I am going to the Playa del Carmen area in 10 days. Its a reasonable all inclusive resort. As soon as I come back I wil post a review.

Re: Safe All Inclusives
I went to the Divi Divi in Aruba and I felt VERY safe. Also, the Sandals in St. Lucia is safe. Wasn't a big fan about leaving the resort, but it wasn't that bad.

Re: Safe All Inclusives
I felt very unsafe in Jamaica. I have friends that had very unsafe experiences in St.Lucia.
I have always felt sooo comfortable in the Bahamas and Mexico.
ETA: My sister lives in Aruba and has always felt very safe there too.

I felt very safe in Aruba, even outside the resort or hotel areas. They have a bunch of all inclusive places. We stayed at the Tamarijn-Divi/Divi and it was a great trip.

We even rented a Jeep and toured the island ourselves.

I have been to El Dorado Royale three times and loved it. It is in Mexico in the Mayan Riviera. It is secluded and very safe.

I have been to a few Sandals and they are very safe. Most place anywhere off the resort is the part you should worry about.

Re: Safe All Inclusives
i went to jamaica and felt safe. my only gripe is what happens outside the resort....people come up to you and try to get you to go into their store and buy stuff. a few people didn't acknowledge me -- would just ask DH if 'the lady wanted her hair braided' or if 'the lady wanted a new sarong.'
