What would you do?

We are flying to Florida in 8 days for a family reunion. We live in Holbrook and we are flying JetBlue out of JFK (We had a credit, so the flights were basically free). I was going to take a car service at 6am so that we would be tehre around 7-7:30am for our 9:30am flight.

Now, DH works for the FDNY and he worked it so that he can take 5 days off, but he has to work a double shift the Sunday before we leave getting home at 3am on Monday morning. The car would be coming for us at 6am.

Our options would be:
1. Have DH come home and not go to bed (which would stink b/c we have to drive 3 hours once we get to Florida)
OR
2. Try to find an inexpensive and not gross hotel room close to JFK and go with DH to work on Sunday and DS and I stay at the hotel. Then we wouldn't have to leave for the airport until a little later and he would be able to sleep from about 2:30am-7:00am.

Oh and we also have a 3 month old traveling with usChat Icon

none of the above.

I would try to get your DH out of work a few hrs earlier. Maybe someone could pick up some overtime and work a few hrs earlier?

Yeah, I don't think it would happen because that shift is his normal shift, so trying to get someone to take his regular shift would be hard....

But with a normal job that would be a good ideaChat Icon

Would he be able to sleep at work and meet you at the airport. I know it would put a lot on you to get ready in the morning. But it's an idea.

He has family in the area, but they are either unreliable or going to already be on the same trip we are going on.

Plus I am trying to not have to park my car at the airport AND pay for a car service, ya know?

He can't get a ride from work or even take a cab? It's kinda silly for him to go from NYC to Holbrook, back to JFK....

And it would probably be about the same amt of $ if you were to stay in a hotel closer to the airport.

That's my whole point. He works at Coney Island Hospital...SO close...I almost wish he was working til 6am and then he probably COULD get a ride.

But there is no place to sleep at the station...His one uncle is an a$$ who would probably drive him, but not let him sleep thereChat Icon
