My Sister's Keeper - might be a spoiler for some
Not sure where this discussion will head so I put - might be spoiler in subject so we don't ruin it for others...
So, for those of you who have read the book what do you think?
Do you think the parents went overboard or would you do the same thing if you had a daughter who was as sick as Kate was?
I'm not a mom yet and I had felt that the parents really took it to the extreme, although at the end the decision was Anna's and she did chose to help Kate. But she didn't know any different. She only knew that was what she was here to do - was to keep her sister alive.
My sister and I were discussing this the other day and I was wondering what your opinion was.
My sister disagrees with me and she says she thinks it's because she is a parent so she can see it from a different perspective.

I feel like the mom in that story was so focused on the sick sister than the other 2 were merely there

ITA with this assessment. I'm not a mom, however, I have seen firsthand how it is when someone has a sick child they have to focus on. I do think the other children get a bit pushed aside, so to speak, to meet the needs of the sick child.

I too am not a mom yet, so I aggre with you both that the mom was way more focused on the sick child rather than the whole family and her other two children. I could see how she as the mother decided to have the other daughtr to help out the sick one, but I think it got out of control and took over their lives. I could not say that I would not have done the same thing being that I am not in that situation. YOu never know what could happen when you are faced with certain sitautions and circumstances...
