Mexico (Riveria Maya) review and some pics
We got back from the Aventura Spa Palace on Friday night. Its at the Riveria Maya about an hour south of Cancun.
The all inclusive resort is adults only and was beautiful and huge. It took about 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other. It had 7 restaurants so we never had to eat at the same place for dinner. Two huge pools too...The only downside is that there isn't a real beach. There is a lagoon for snorkeling but if you are into the beach, then its not so great.
We took a trip to Tulum to see the ruins which was nice. While we were there Chitchen Itza was named one of the 7 modern wonders of the world but it was a 3 hour bus ride each way so we decided against going.
Because our hotel was part of Palace resorts that has a bunch of other hotels in the area we went to visit a few of the other ones. One that we went to was called Xpu-Ha palace and was an ecological center. It had like a mini zoo with monkeys and some animals native to Mexico. They also took you on an hour nature walk where you were basically in the area with deer and could just stand right next to them. That resort allowed children and I told DH if we ever have kids its a great place to bring them.
Here are a few pictures:
First is a view from our balcony 2 and three are the ruins at Tulum 4th - the lagoon for snorkeling at the hotel Image Attachment(s):

I think our favorite restaurant was the Asian restaurant...for the first time DH actually ate sushi. I also liked La Huerta which was in the North Lobby.
We saw a few cats...but more than cats we kept seeing lizards!!

Re: Mexico (Riveria Maya) review and some pics
Danielle and I just came back from Cancun yesterday. We stayed at Riu Palace las Americas. My inlaws stayed at the resort you were at 2 years ago and were there for the hurricane that tore your resort apart.
Our next trip to mexico will be to the riviera mayas......Not sure where we will stay but it may b a RIU resort since we loved ours so much.
We didnt make it to Tulum but I was dying to go.

Re: Mexico (Riveria Maya) review and some pics
I went to Maya Rivera for my honeymoon. It was awesome. We stayed at Secrets Excelence...which is now under different owners. We went to Chichen Itza for the summer soltice. Basically they say you can see a snake on the big pyramid because of the way the sun hits it. Unfortunately for us it was overcast that day so we did not get to see it while we were there. We went to Cancun for one day to do a little shopping. I would have to say I would go back there in a heartbeat. Awesome pictures and thanks for making me want to be there today. LOL. But I am stuck at work instead.
