cross post : anyone get sick after a cruise?

We got back from a western caribbean cruise 2 weeks ago and have been sick ever since. And I mean REALLY sick, to the point of wanting to go to the hospital for the severity of the pain and burning in my stomach. Symtoms are nausea, vomiting, pain and burning in stomach and fever. My two little daughters and now my hubby have this as well.

I've been doing some research and it seems as though TONS of people that I know (and lots that I don't know) have gotten really sick after returning from a cruise.

I'm freaked.

I'm also worried about a possible parasite....we had some drinks in Mexico and also went swimming in a pool there...however we were assured that it was safe.

Anyone have any insight?

I would go to the dr.--my husband got salmonalla at Sandals Antigua on our honeymoon. Luckily it didn't really hit him until the day we got home--but he was REALLY sick with many of the symptoms you described.

I've been on several cruises and have never been sick afterwards..however that is NOT to say it cant happen!

go to the doctor just to check it is not something serious!

I would go to the doctor.

Most bourne illnesses start at about 3-72 hours after eating bad food. For serious illnesses, such as botulism, it can be as late as 10 days (I took the Nassau County Food Handlers License a few years ago). I do not know much about parasites though. Perhaps it was something you have eaten since you got home?

Did you guys eat any of that meat that was recalled? I wonder if they serve it on the ship?
