What do you think? ***Update***
I has my resume posted on Monster. I receieved an e-mail from a woman who claims to be a recruiter. Here is part of the e-mail:
I recently came across your resume on Monster.com and believe that I have an interesting opportunity for you to consider. Labat Anderson is a consulting firm specializing in Litigation Support. We have a project with the Department of Justice Antitrust Division ("ATR") requiring Paralegals to work on a document review project. Any offer of employment hinges on four things: your acceptance by the client (DOJ-ATR Division); your ability to pass a background investigation performed by ATR including a Credit Check; a conflict of interest check; and, your status as a U.S. citizen. If you are accepted by the client (ATR) you would then fill out a background information form. This is a standard "confidential" level clearance check that covers prior work experience and residential information. You would list your education, places of employment, and where lived going back seven years with names of persons who knew you then. There are two stages to completing a background information check. The first stage is a waiver usually done within a few weeks to a month in which a preliminary credit and criminal check is performed. The second stage includes verifying your previous employment and residence information. Employment is contingent upon your acceptance by ATR and passing the background check.
I replied to the e-mail and asked for more info and said I might possibly be interested. This was the reply I received.
If you are interested, please fill out and fax back the Credit Check form as soon as possible. The fax number is XXXXXXXX.
I'm thinking this is not legit...what do you think?
I e-mailed the Department of Justice and turns out they do not use recuiters. All of there job vaccancies are posted directly on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's USAJobs Web site.
So, thanks for your advice. It just shows you that you should always follow your gut feeling!

Re: What do you think? (Sorry a little bit long)
The 1st part seems legit, but as far as the 2nd one- I dont know about that. It seems like they are asking for personal info way too early. This info should only be giving out once you are a candidate for hire.

I agree, do not send them any information just like that. It sounded legit until the end.

Re: What do you think? (Sorry a little bit long)
I had to submit a full application to the DOJ for a law school clinic I was considering. Everything in the first part of the request sounds legitimate, but the credit check is definitely not something I ever had to submit or provide information for.
