About how much of your paychecks do you have go towards 401K or stock options?

How much do you contribute normally? and if you are a teacher, expecially NYC, what plans do you have and what percent of paycheck do you contribute?

I dont have 401 k I wish we would get that at my job!

I put in 7% which is what my company matches up to.

According to Suzy Orma (financial expert), you should only put in up to what your comany matches if you have any debt....and then pay off debt.

I put in 7% and my company matches 4%, I think.

I put in 20%, my company matches a measly amount, but there is also a cash pension = 5% of my salary that they contribute to in my name (just gotta stick around 5 yrs to get it)

i put in 10% and my company matches the first 4%.

DH puts 10% into his and his company matches first 6%. Since I just started my job I still am not sure what kind of plan is available yet. I am going to try to put as much away as possible.

Cocoa, I put the required amount into my pension (I forget the % but it is the same for everyone.)

I put an additional 7% into my TDA. I should really put more but it's one of those things I'm going to do "tomorrow."

I forget if the money is in Variable A or Variable B but it's the riskier of the two, which is what you should consider too if you haven't already, since like me, you are probably going to have to work for a looooong time if you end up staying in NYC.

When I get closer to retirement I will move the money to the more stable variable (I think it's fixed) HTH.

I put 6% because that is what my company matches.
I also put $3K a year into my Roth IRA.

I'm not a teacher, but 6% of may pay goes into the 401K. My company matches 1/2 of that, but I'm not vested for another 2 and 1/2 years...

6% and they match every dollar I put in after 5 years. This yr is my 5th yr!

My company only matches 2%. I know it's not alot but with 2 kids, that is all we can afford. My dh just started his as his job just introduced it.

I put in whatever my company matches - I *believe* it's 6%.

I put in 10%, my company matches 3% I think, plus profit sharing

I put in 9% and my company matches 6% I believe. I also put money into my Roth IRA when I can which is anywhere from $2000-$3000 a year.
