Ang look on trip advisor. Danielle and I just got back from cancun last week. We stayed at the RIU las Americas, and it was excellent....5 star resort.

Re: Anyone stay at the riu-vallarta? OR

Here is my Review from Trip Advisor

First off I have to say that we loved the RPLA and next year we plan on going to RIU in the Riviera Maya. Excellent resort, Excellent customer Service, Excellent People, and Excellent Food.

The Resort was 5 stars in my book. The workers were cleaning 24 hours a day and they work very hard. I never saw a worker sitting down or not doing their job.

From the minute we walked through the front door to the minute we left for the airport, I felt like we were royalty. We didnt have to do anything, but eat, drink and relax.

Our Room #631, Was clean. The AC worked really good. It was freezing in the room most of the time. The balcony is big. We had 2 chairs and a small table. There is plenty of space to walk around the chairs and table without moving them.

We had a view of the quiet pool and the ocean. The quiet pool is also the childrens pool. This is the pool that my wife and I went into. The other pool was too busy, and they always had something going on there. We weren't into that....we wanted the quiet and the relaxation.

Our bed was hard even with the mattress pad, but we both slept straight through the night with no problem at all.

Be careful the tile floors are always slippery, but that was probably because of the humidity.....

The person that cleaned our room did an excellent job. They left us towel swans and a towel elephant. Also one day they left us chocolates.

The bathroom was beautiful. All tile....and Granite. The shower doesn't have a light but you really do not need it.

We had a mini frig that was refilled every other day. We left them a tip in the frig every other day and a list of what drinks we wanted.

We also had a few bottles on tap. One night I had a rum and Pepsi lite. Loved that.

The food is really good. The meat must be brought in from the US, because it is real good quality meat.

We ate at Los Archos for lunch, which is the italian restaurant, and then at night it becomes the Brazillian restaurant. We ate at the Brazillian restaurant once. It was good. We loved the italian restaurant for lunch. Other than 1 day this is where we went. The other day we went to the buffet which is good too.

We had the buffett for breakfast and for dinner 3 days I think. There is a lot of food at the buffett. As far as seafood, I saw Prawns, mussels, fillet, and shrimp. No lobster or crabs.

The other restaurants we ate at were:
Tio Pepe - Spanish - Tapas restaurant. This was excellent

Sir Arthur - French - Really good.

We ate at Don Roberdos which is the steak house. That was also very good.

The coffee is not very good but there is a starbucks within walking distance of the hotel.

The alchohol is plentiful and top shelf also.

The shows at night were not that great, except for 2 nights where they had entertainment that they hired from out of the resort. Those 2 shows were excellent.

At night there is not much to do, especially if you arent a big drinker like my wife and I.

The streets are safe, so we found ourselves at the malls, flea markets and other stores in the the area, day and night.

The stores in the resort are very expensive. Right across the street are two souviner shops and also there is a mall right down the block and also the Mexican Outlet which has everything. We bought a lot of stuff from there.

There are peddlers selling items on the beach. We only bought two table cloths that we couldnt find in any store. I was able to bargain a really good price with him.

We went to the aquarium by cab, and also to the huge beautiful mall that is right next door.

We checked out MArgarittaville, Senior Frogs, Bumba Gumps, and many other places.

We tipped everyone that served us, because they all worked so hard and deserved their tips.

We had a great time and have to say that RPLA was the best all inclusive we have stayed at.

Re: Anyone stay at the riu-vallarta? OR

I just did some research on trip advisor. Im not sure if it is true but a lot of the reviews talk about theft at this resort.

I found this resort on the site and it looks really nice and everyone of the reviews are excellent

Re: Anyone stay at the riu-vallarta? OR

I stayed at the RIU Naiboa in Punta Cana- it is the cheapest of their collection down there. For 5 days and the ridiculously cheap price we payed it was pretty good. There weren't a ton of dining options but we never went hungry. The hotels were all well maintained.
As far as Puerto Vallarta goes, I absolutely LOVE it there. There are just so many options. You can do something different every day, or just relax. There is a great nightlife scene and a TON of fantastic restaurants. I know you will be going all-inclusive, but I would still eat out once or twice.
