Hi Alyssa, welcome to the site.

Click this link
Click the above link and that will take you to a few previous threads posted regarding this topic.
Quite a few women on this site have done it (JHS is what we call it for short) and I believe Top Point seems to be the overall leader so far.

Well at previous posts i've noticed that people aren't very happy with their results from Top Point.. It would be my first time getting it done and i want to go to a great yet inexpensive place.

really? people aren't happy with top point- I am - I am have gotten in done 2 times and my hair dries PIN straight

so does my sisters she just went last weekend

best $200 I ever spent- and I have spent close to $1K at other places getting it done and it has never even come close to drying straight

I would search the fashion and beauty board - that's where you'll find info.

I go to Hair Village in Woodside. It's great because you don't have to drive there and worry about all that parking BS. You can take the LIRR and it's like 2 blocks away. Plus it's cheaper than Top Point. Chat Icon

Really - cause I just clicked on a couple of the links that Deb provided and I see other places that girls have reviewed and liked.

We have Board that has Beauty threads on it - maybe look through those. That is basically what Deb provided you with. Chat Icon

My daughter wants to get it done as well, she's 16 but has colored her hair and has used an at home straightening kit as well.. do you have to be a certain age to get it done? i'd like to look into it before summer seeing as she hates when her hair frizzes with the heat

Thanks everyone for the quick responses !

Yikes, you said you were new and looking for information so I was just trying to point you in the right direction, give you the information you so crave while attempting to show you how to ascertain some information for yourself from this site.
Next time I shall know better.

age doesn't matter- but coloring and at home products can effect it- you can't mix certain chemicals

my hair is soft and shiney- never dry and brittle- I have been getting it done for 5 years- about 8 or 9 times

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening

I'm trying to figure out when to get my touch up. I am going to San Fran for work on the 25th and would LOVE to have it done before then so I don't have to worry about blowing out my hair....

I've literally had this done like 5 times already, but everytime I forget how long I can't wash it for..lol

If I did it this Friday, could I wash it Monday morning?

Also, I know some people don't put their hair up for like a week after they get it done.. but I don't think I ever commit to that rule. I figure once I wash it it's done and I can go about my business..lol anyone experiance a crease this way?

I wait 3 days to wash it- and put it in a pony tail after I wash it- never had a problem in all the time I have gotten it done! you should be fine!
