Any NYC teachers not interested

in teaching on Long Island?

Although there are probably a whole slew of great reasons to teach on LI, I find myself so attached to the city....with its bureaucratic faults and everything.
The days in a NYCDOE school can be crazy and stressful but I love the way everything is so unexpected and being a native Queens girl myself, I feel like I connect to the kids really well.
Any opinions?

i agree to a point. I mean i think they both have their pros and cons.
In my case my main reason is we will probably get a house in queens and my kids will be in school near our house so i dont wnat to be too far away from them. I would like to get a job in the city ( already teach but in brooklyn) close to where we want to live but its hard its the best district in queens 26.

I have no interest in being on LI. At this point, I have a lot of time in, so it would be hard for me to leave- I'd hate to be back to square one in a new district.

I have had some amazing kids over the years who have made the problems well worth it. My students and co-workers come from such a range of cultural backgrounds, and it's been really interesting to have that diversity in my life. I have learned so many things that I don't think I would have learned if I'd ended up in a school that was like the one I attended on LI.

Also, you can't beat the city for field trips- there is so much to do and see.
