Re: Theresa...

I was just about to post.

DH and I went to see Dr. Bray in Mineola yesterday. I kinda went over my ob/gyn's head on this one. As some of you may know he thought I have a slight case of PCOS and wanted to treat me with metformin and gave me a prescription to test two hormones in my blood. This was a bout a month ago. Well, I wasn't entirely happy with that and thought that considering my age he wasn't being aggressive enough. From charting for almost a year, I clearly do not ovulate, am 35 and well, what if we try metformin for a few months and that doesn't work? I spoke with DH's aunt about it (retired nurse practioner) and she said BULL@#$%, called her ob/gyn who is top in the field and ran my case by her. She said, "Go see Dr. Bray". So I called right away.

I explained to Dr. Bray that I've had very irregular cycles for 13 years now and only get my period maybe three or four times a year so even then they could be anovulatory. I brought in my charts and a list of questions. She was great!!! Finally, for the first time in 13 years I was not dismissed. I've always knew that there was something wrong and she listened. She said, "Well, when would the two of you like to be pregnant?" She was very confident, understanding and not cocky as some doctors can be.

Thanks to you girls I pretty much knew what she was going to say. Since I am on cycle day 76Chat Icon Chat Icon :bang...

1. She prescribed me Provera. After a week AF should come.

2. Call in on Day 3 for bloodwork. Clomid will start at 50 mg for three months

3. DH has to call his insurance company today about the SA.

4. We will be doing an IUI for three cycles.

5. Just in case, I already made a reconsult appointment with her for January. She suggested I do that now.

6. They took blood from me yesterday, one vial.

They are going to do DH's SA the same day as my first IUI to save us a trip.

Now, here's the problem... As I teach high school I need to be at work by 7 am every morning. That's just not possible even on testing days. The office opens in Mineola at 6:30 am but that still doesn't really help me. Even for bloodwork I will miss a few classes. How should I handle that? I won't be going in on the days of IUI. Should I go through one cycle before I tell my principal? And then what do I tell him? I never take off so people will no something is up.

any advice?

That's a tuff one...

well I would definately tell the Principal...just so they know and work with you...as per everyone else...if you WANT to inform them then do so...if not...you do not have to explain yourself to them.

You can just say I need to get blood work done...I wouldn't ask someone WHY if they told me that.

Sorry...I don't have to mush advice on this I guess Chat Icon

Re: Theresa...

I'm glad you're comfortable w/Dr. Bray and your consult.

As for school, I'd be totally upfront w/the principal. Tell him/her that you're having some bloodwork done so you might be late for any morning classes, and there will be certain procedures down the road that will keep out of work for a day or so. Unless they ask for specifics, I wouldn't tell them exactly what you're doing. A medical reason should suffice for now.

Good luck!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Theresa...

Do you work for the DOE ?????

I have advice, as I ended up with a U rating because of what they considered excessive absence. I am allowed 10 days, and I took 12 because of the RE appointments. They said, that "I should have shared the fact that I was seeing a doctor and had to get testing done". Well, I didn't know I had to do this , I found this out as an after fact. I figured since I had 40 days in my sick bank, I could just take some from there. Anyway,...so my advice to you, is to tell your principal that you are seeking medical attention and that you need to go for bloodwork, etc . Some days you can come in late and some days you wont' be able to go in at all. Make sure you keep record of when you had the conversation and what was said. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TELL HIM WHAT IT'S FOR, ANYTHING MEDICAL IS CONFIDENTIAL !!!

Dr. Bray is putting you on clomid without doing any thorough testing ???? What about the long list of things Rsofny tests for ? HSG test , Prolactin, Glucose, TSH, T3, T4, rubella, variocella, genetic panel etc etc etc...

Re: Theresa...

Sorry, she is sending me for comprehensive bloodwork at Quest on day 3, then if all passes I'm on Clomid.

I work at a high school in Nassau county.

Re: Theresa...

okay sounds like a plan :) Hopefully they can pinpoint why you aren't ovulating and cure the 'cause" :) I also hope that clomid gives you that one good egg that's been waiting so long to show :) !!!!! HERE'S TO A SUCCESSFUL CYCLE :)
