no money over summer - 403(b) question
How many of you are stressing right now over complete lack of funds? How do you manage this not getting a paycheck over the summer? I'm going crazy and stressed!

Hey there. I totally stress over the summer because I work 3 jobs and they all happen to either not be during the summer or be really slow and not need me during the summer. I just really tried to cut down on my spending...although it is hard!! Don't worry, we are almost back to work!

I pay myself every 2 weeks from my summer check....usually lasts pretty much the entire summer.

I do the same thing. I deposit the entire summer check into ING savings account. Then when I would normally get paid I transfer the $ into my checking account. I love the ING account because its not an instant transfer, it takes a few days to transfer the money...and I think that's good because I am an impulse buyer and it forces me to to not be able to go to the ATM to just take out the $.
It took me a few very broke summers to figure out how to better handle the lump sum check.

I get that balloon check at the beginning of the summer. If it wasn't for my wedding, I would probably have a big chunk of it left.

I do the same thing. I take my summer check and divide it by six. Although the sum every two weeks is less than I make during the year, it lasts through September.

One of the only good things about NYC is they just continue to pay you though out the summer. There is no balloon check, just your regular paycheck every other week.

I was just about to post the same thing. My check goes into my direct deposit on th edays I'm normally apid throughtout th eschool year.

I took more money throughout the year up front. I'm doing the lump sum next summer. Big mistake not to this year especially with buying the house and redoing the kitchen, etc.. I feel like I'm drowning.
And I just got a call from the ppl who handle my 403(b) for work and they want to know why I haven't had a paycheck since June - that my account is debiting every month and I have a negative balance. Ummm.... if I set it up through the school, shouldn't you know my pay cycle and that checks stop in June in our district??? I'm sort of confused by that. Is that how everyone's works? Or do you link it to anohter account and contribute over the summer, too?
