Man I picked the wrong week to join WW- need some help.
So of course I decide to join WW the week of my anniversary, labor day and a pizza party at work.
So give me some support on how I handle this pizza party. There is always a ton of yummy cookies that I stuff my face with.
So my stratgey is skip the pasta salad and load up on regular salad with a tiny bit of vingrette dressing.
One small piece of pizza (not my usual 2).
2 cookies ONLY and load up on fruit, if they have.
What do you think?

I often did pizza when I was on WW--you'll be fine with 1 slice and a small side salad with FF dressing. Enjoy! See how full you are...I might not do the cookies and do fruit instead...Depending on the cookie it might be a few points per cookie, and usually I decide it's not worth it.

I think you've got a good plan. Also if you like veggies on your pizza, you can add that.
The way I've gotten through parties is:
- to drink a lot of water beforehand. - Eat salad & vegetables before eating the things that have points. - Socialize more & do it away from the food. - Keep your hands busy - camera, help clean up, hold a baby.
There are reasons why people eat outside of enjoying food. Figure out what your triggers are & work on them (stress, boredom, anger).
One thing I learned is if I sit & socialize with a plate of food in front of me, eating becomes unconscious. At home, I get up as soon as I'm done eating. I clean up pots & pans while having a conversation while DH & the kids are eating. If I sit there (as I did last night), I can have seconds & thirds easily.

I eat pizza all the time... it is just about portion control-

You have a good plan. The one thing I always made a mistake with is I would eat something in replacement for something else, and then eat what I wanted anyway.
I would fill up with veggies and salad first (be careful with the dressing- bring your own, forgo it altogether, or be very careful with how much you put on.)
I would have the one slice of pizza- a tip that works for me- I always have 2 slices of pizza, but when I can't and am going with only one, I cut the one in half. It makes me feel like I am still eating two and it really slows me down from inhaling it.
As for cookies and fruit . . . Fruit still has points. I would have one cookie and one portioned serving of fruit. Eat the fruit first, save the cookie for the end- you may end up not even wanting it! If you must MUST have 2 cookies, then just have the 2 cookies and forgo the fruit. Obviously the best points choice is to not have cookies and just have fruit, but if that is not realistic for you, then you have to work the plan in a way that is.
Another tip with the cookie(s). Break it or them into tiny pieces at a time and really enjoy it. That is what I found was the cause of overeating for me. I would shove a whole cookie in my mouth at once. If you break it up into smaller pieces and eat it slowly, you will be much more satisfied and might not need more.
Good luck. Really it is never the wrong week to start WW. Life is life and you are learning how to eat the right way. Even if you aren't 100% on plan, you can do better than you might have done in the past, and that is still something to be proud of!

I also find that if I write down my planned meals the night befire and only eat what is on my list I am more focused. So on FRiday night I have "girls night" with all my friends and I have alreadt anticipated that I can have about 12 pts, so I can have 2 lite beers and a soup and a salad. If I plan, I feel much more in control

I would also skip the cookies - or only have one. They can be 2-3 point EACH.
Or only have salad and one cookie - no pizza.
There is never a "wrong" week to join WW (in my opinion). It is a lifestyle change and throughout your life there will be plenty of events and occasions to get through without stuffing ourselves.
It's not always easy, but you can do it!! Oh and if you eat more than you wanted to - dont beat yourself up - just move on...it's only a little mistake (I am a totaly hypocrite because I beat myself up for everything - but really it doesn't help!) Good luck - let us know how you did.

Thanks guys!! I did OK during the meal, but cookies got to me. I have such a sweet tooth. I totally lost control with the cookies (there was no fruit). I had a bad WW day.
But where before I may give up on WW entirely, today I am back on track. I won't let one day of losing control defeat me in the long run.
Of course someone has to bring in Godiva chocolates today So I had one. Calculated the PROPER points (not 3 points for 2 candies as in the WW general manual for points), and am accounting for it in my day.
