Ice breakers for HS

Does anyone have any good ice breakers? I teach 9th and 11th grade.

Re: Ice breakers for HS

I ask them all to move to the back of the room, then I ask them to organize themselves alphabetically and then by birthdate and give them about 45 seconds to do so. I teach Spanish so I do it all in Spanish to get them back in the groove. I did it last year with 10th grade, and even though some rolled their eyes at the thought, by the end of the activity they were laughing and relaxed.

A health teacher in my building passes around a roll of toilet paper and tells everyone to take as many sheets as they want. When everyone has their sheets he says that each sheet represents one thing the student must tell the class about him/herself. He used to do it with candy (much more fun) but we aren't supposed to pass around candy to the students anymore.

Good luck!
