do you sign your class lts Mrs/Ms/ X or your first and last name?

and if you prefer a certain way, why? (if there's a reason.....


I am trying to decide which to do ...usually I just write Deirdre XXXXXXXXXXX but noticed a lot of the other teachers I work with always just do Mrs. XXXXXXXX.

usually any letters to parents, IEPs, etc. I sign my first and last name, basically the more formal things have my first and last name

Anything to the kids, Mrs. P. My newsletter and website also is Mrs. P.

thanks - I should have clarified that its for the parents I meant....my class will always call me Mrs. X!

(also I teach Kindergarten, if that makes a difference!)

For formal letters to the parents - of which I write few - I will write Mrs. XXX XXXX. When I write more informal notes, I write Mrs. XXXX.

i always write mrs. xxx. i don't include my first name

depends on the situation and the parent. For example, if it is a letter to my class parents, then first and last name, but for something more formal, use Mrs. XXXXX

My principal has an issue with Mrs and Miss and wants us all addressed as Ms.

I address myself as Mrs. R to my students (I don't want to be MS.!), and by my first name to the parents. Most of the parents in my class are older than I am, and I feel funny having them call me Mrs. R. Most do anyway, and it makes me uncomfortable. I'm just a very informal person.

I call the parents Mr and Mrs. SoAndSo, unless they ask me to call them by their first names.

I ususally write Mrs. K. MXXXXXXXX

There is really no reason the parents need to know my first name IMO

Most of the students in my school have speech and language delays. My last name with a "Mrs. in front of it is a phonetic nightmare for them. They end up calling me "Miss Leslie" which I don't like, but I deal with it. I have the same students as last year so it will be hard to break the habit if I were to insist on it. But they are children with special needs and I understand. Any teacher in my building with an easy last name has it made.

What bother's me is that the staff members end up calling me "Miss Leslie" too. They can't seem to WANT to learn my last name despite the fact I have had it a year and half. Any teacher with a master's degree who teaches phonics has no excuse NOT to be able to pronounce my name. The parents end up calling me "Miss Leslie" too. It makes me uncomfortable.

I NEVER sign my name "Miss Leslie". It is just not terribly professional IMO.
