bar mitzvah dress code

is a bar mitzvah as dressy as a wedding?

its a daytime party this saturday - can I wear a cute silk and sequin skirt and a top, or a black and white linen dress (knee length) ?

Or do I need to wear what I would wear to a wedding?

IMO, you do not need to dress like you would for a wedding, even though some of these bar/bat mitzvahs can cost as much

I think your choices are fine. for the service at the Synagogue, I would not wear anything revealing. i would cover your arms and not wear a skirt or a dress shorter than knee length.
