Not a teacher but I have a question

I am not a teacher but I have two kids in school, first and third grade.

My daughter's birthday was this past Saturday and I like to do her birthday celebration in September rather than lump it in with the summer birthdays.

Since the whole "no food" rule has come into play...what are some suggestions for a first grade class? Her teacher suggested reading a book to the class which I will definitely do but anything else to make it fun?

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Re: Not a teacher but I have a question

can you go in and do a craft with the class. maybe it can be thematic and go along with the curriculum.

Re: Not a teacher but I have a question

I had a student last year in first grade buy their favorite book, then the mom read it to the class, and then she donated the book to our class library. The mom put a cute little sticker on the inside say the the book was donated to the class on such and such date for so and so's B-day. I thought it was a great idea!

Read a book and do a craft activity related to the book - or forget that it be related, just do a fun craft!
