Here is my advice on gear:
Buy the "Baby Bargains" Book by Denise Fields (This is a link to the book for sale on Amazon)
For $12 nearly all the questions you have will be answered in an easy to read format that you can bring to the store with you. Don't get turned off by the word "Bargains" this isn't about buying junk -- it tells you what is worth spending on, and what brands are good quality.

Try enlisting in Consumer Reports,thats where i got my info, there always upto date. Graco seems to be the top on alot of there lists for baby items. Good Luck with your pregnancy and congratulations....
