I bought them off a guy in the street for like a $1 each...

The summer Fletcher Greel loved me - By: Suzanne Kingsbury.

It was about a girl who is raised in the south by a dad who drank and mom who took off on them...she had a black BF who was beat up by a bunch of white red necks...it was a little weird at first...but A LOT of secrets and twists came up after a while...

Back Roads by: Tawni O'Dell -Oprah's book club book...

This was about a boy who had to take care of his family (sisters) after his mom shot his dad to death...without telling you too much...this kid goes through it...and they explain each character so well in the book. The ending has a BIG surprise.

Re: What are your favorite reads?

Right now i am obsessed with anything by Philippa Gregory- I just read the Queen's Fool and the Other Boleyn Girl. I just took another one out of the library.

Old favorites are Animal Dreams and the Poisonwood BIble- or really anything by Barbara Kingslover.

ETA: Tuesdays with Morrie was a great book. I actually knew Morrie- but not very well. I went to Brandeis and my roomate TA'd for him.

It's a classic. It's the story of a girl growing up in Brooklyn, in a very Irish home and neighborhood. Her dad is an alcoholic and because of that, the family struggles financially. She has a racy, unconventional aunt who sort of scandalizes the neighborhood (racy for the 1950s, or whenever this book takes place, not racy by today's standards) I think it begins with her as a child, and goes through her school years, until she is a young adult, out in the working world. I think it's more of a "chick" book, but I have always loved it.

I bought the Queen's Fool and The Virgin's Lover. Started The Queen's Fool this morning. If you want The Virgin's Lover after I'm done, let me know.

Oops - forgot favorite books:

Red Tent
Crimson Petal and the White

...pretty much anything historical fiction.
