do you need a rental car in Vegas?
we want to go the grand canyon for a day but i was thinking we'll just rent one for the day we go -- we dont need one for the entire vacay right?

we rented a car when we went to vegas. it was very helpful since taxis are expensive!

If you're just planning on staying around the strip, you don't need a rental car. Bring good walking shoes though, or be prepared to take a cab if you want to go out further away from your hotel.

we rented a car when we went to Vegas, but we didn't stay on the strip (went for a wedding and stayed at the hotel where all the other guests were staying) so it came in handy. if i went back and stayed on the strip, i wouldn't rent a car again.

I was there twice without a car and didn't miss having one. Both times I stayed at the Mirage which is pretty central on the strip - a lot of the other hotels were walking distance and we cabbed the rest of the times. I figure we had to be way ahead paying cab fare instead of car rental and parking/valet fees.

The first time we went we only rented a car for one day, to go out to Hoover Dam and Red Rock.
The second time we rented a car the whole time, because it was August and it was too hot to walk around. Plus we drove out of the city a lot.

we didnt rent one when we went on August...didnt feel the need for one. We used cabs if we needed to go anywhere far away.

We stayed at Paris- mid strip when we went in July. We did not miss having a car! We walked everywhere and a few times took a cab- it was not expensive for us- we even took the shuttle one night- and decided that we would rather walk-
