Curly haired girls - help!
I have been wearing my hair curly (I usually straighten it EVERYDAY) and am really enjoying NOT having to do it. However, it gets sooo frizzy and I have a ton of fly aways that are driving me crazy. I use suave mousse at the moment, and that's about it. Can anyone recommend a good mouse/gel that will give my curls a boost, while getting rid of frizz and give me SOFT curls (I don't want the too much gel or product look)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Mousse isn't really that good for curly hair, especially if it contains alcohol. It will dry out your hair, producing the frizziness and fly aways.
I use a styling cream usually. The one I'm using now is Wired by Rusk. It's pretty heavy, but works well on reducing the frizzies. And my hair stays pretty soft.

Re: Curly hair girls - help!
I don't have curly hair, just annoying waves that I straighten every day. If I let my hair air dry, forget about it.
But, I agree with what MrsStein said. Two different stylists told me that mousse usually contains alcohol and dries out your hair. After being a dedicated mousse-user for many years, I finally switched to gel, and I've seen a big improvement.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend a gel for curly hair, but I do recall seeing a few posts on this a while back!

Can I get WIRED by Rusk at CVS?

Re: Curly hair girls - help!
Keep the suggestions coming!!
One last question - If I use gel on my wet hair and let my hair air dry, will it leave my curls stiff or will I get the soft curls I'm looking for???

I get the best results when I use a diffuser to dry my hair. It gives it more body and just looks better overall. You might get more of that "wet" look if you just let your hair air dry.

I use a cream and a gel. I also let me hair air dry. I never used a diffuser before, but maybe I should try.
For those who blow dry with a diffuser, does your hair dry quicker than if you were to blow dry and straighten it?
I have such thick hair that it takes FOREVER to dry my hair.

I used to diffuse. Now I let my hair air dry. When I diffused my hair would get very curly but it was huge! Now my hair is wavy and flatter. Diffuser takes longer than regular blow drying

Re: Curly haired girls - help!
Try the sunsilk moisture crem (I think that it is) in the green bottle for curly hair. My hair stays nice and soft with that and doesn't have as much frizz.

I used to diffuse. Now I let my hair air dry. When I diffused my hair would get very curly but it was huge! Yes!! The puffy curly thing was SO not cute on me, so I stopping diffusing. My hair looks much better when it's just air dried.
I use Tresseme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel.

Re: Curly haired girls - help!
That's so weird...I never get the huge hair thing when I diffuse...
Also, it takes me about 10 mins to diffuse my hair. I invested in one of those tourmaline hair dryers thanks to suggestions on here....LOVE it!

Re: Curly haired girls - help!
See what we deal with? Seriously, having curly hair is not easy.
I have a diffuser attachment that goes on my hair dryer and also a hair dryer that is a diffuser.
I have been doing something different lately and I am liking it. I'm mixing hair gel with the same amount of either stylng cream or conditioner or something of that consistency. It's really defining my curls but keeping them soft, not hard. Only down side is that when I go to sleep, the curls get squished so I do have to wash my hair the next day. When I used mouse, I didn't have that problem so much.

When I used to wear my hair naturally curly, I swear that the best product was Studio Line Pumping Curls Spray.

Re: Curly haired girls - help!
I'm not a curly haired girl (I wish), but my niece is and after a zillion products and always seeing her hair looking either wet and crunchy or totally frizzy, I finally found the answer... The "Be Curly" line from Aveda. She uses the shampoo, conditioner and then the curl enhancer. Worth every penny! Her hair looks fabulous.

I just bought the Frederick Fekkai styling cream and wave spray and they're by far the best things I've ever used. I've tried Bumble and Bumble and Aveda's curly lines and this one blows them away. You can get them at Sephora too.
