So sad the Mets lost. Don't kill me now when I say I'm rooting for the Phils. Me and my dad (their biggest fan). It's been 14 years for them, my dad is finally relieved!

Re: Even in our darkest hour
Sorry Mets fans... You had an awesome season - I really thought your team would be a shoe in for the playoffs.
Especially after Maine's game last night.
Maybe next year.

I'm now rooting for the Cubs. They have had a few years since their last win!
So depressing, but they will always be my Mets.

I'll be rooting for Boston but it really doesn't matter who wins the WS as long as it's not the YANKEES! I couldn't take that blow as well...

Re: Even in our darkest hour
I have to say that the Yankee fans at my job have been kind to me. I've gotten a lot of condolences from people who said that they thought of me on Sunday.
I'm giving the Red Sox my complete support. I know that if they go all the way and win another World Series that will just kill the Yankees and the Yankee fan and that will make me very happy.
For the Mets next year, I suggest that they put a copy of yesterday's back page of the Daily News, where Jimmy Rollins is pictured drenched in champagne with the caption "I Told You So" in front of everyone's locker during spring training and play the video of the Phillies celebrating winning the NL East, just to get the point across that this can never happen again.

Very well said...It would be a great motivation for them.
And at least you had nice Yankee fans encounter you but we had a nasty encounter with a Yankee fan last night that has ended in us not speaking to the person again. Very immature person, So this only makes me root even harder for Boston or any team to beat the Yankees. And it makes me all pumped for next season. I was all set to give up on the Mets but this gave me the fire I need and I can't wait till next season when we get revenge and start kicking some serious Philly a$$.
LETS GO METS...
eta...I am not rooting for the phillies either...

Certain Yankee fans I can tolerate-the ones that know the history of team. What I can't stand are the ones that jumped on the band wagon in 96, knows nothing of the history of the team other than 26 World Championships. The few people I know, I can't even get them to name the coaching staff or even players.
Anyway, in my office I have an array of Mets bobbleheads including Willie Randolph and Jose Reyes. They are now facing the wall and been given a time out until next year. When I had the news on Sunday night and they interviewed Jose Reyes, he is the last player I want to hear from because he's been attrocious since Rickey Henderson has been 1st base coach. I can't believe I can honestly say that losing Game 7 against the Cards is so much easier to deal with than this. Even when the Mets 100 games in the 90's is easier than this.

I guess this is what being a fan is all about. Your team will either make you mad or happy. And as mad as I am about the Mets I know that come next season I will be rooting for them again.
It's hard I know and trust me I was ready to throw in the towel but I can't. I've been a fan for 21 years and as much as they have disappointed me I won't give up on them.
But that's not to say that I am not mad at them. I don't want to see them and I watched none of the interviews since Sunday. I found this Carlos Beltran banner that we bought for DS when we took him to his first Mets game and I can't even bear to look at it. It's gonna hurt for a while but hopefully we'll get over it one day...
