I didn't get the job
I am devastated. I didn't think I would be this upset. I got the rejection letter in the mail today, and I've been crying ever since. I don't know how much longer I can do this. I am contemplating either switching careers or moving out of state. It's just breaking my heart.

Elementary, Special ed, literacy all birth through sixth grade, like a million other people.

I would send your resumes again to schools in the city. You never know if new sections of grades opened up, someone quit, didn't come bac, is having a baby etc etc

I am so sorry to hear that!!!!!
i know how you feel. Something will turn up, I promise. Have you tried the city? I know the commute can suck depending where the school is and the pay isn't good, but it's really not that bad and a lot of LI districts like hiring people with some experience from the city.
Please let me know if I can help you in anyway... i can't imagine that with 3 certifications you can't find anything....

I know exactly how you feel. It took me 6 years to finally get a permanent position. You have to stick with it and be persistent. It will come it always does sometimes just longer than others

i have learned that no matter how many people say "we need teachers in LI" that its impossible to get a job - not only do I have a bunch of certifications, I have years experience in autism, and had a lot of difficulty getting an INTERVIEW for autism classrooms!!!

I will definitely keep you posted about positions in my district. We keep adding classrooms for children with autism.

If you're willing to work in NYC, I would definitely try there. You wouldn't believe how many first-year teachers leave after only a few weeks, and there should be a bunch of openings by now.
