Wondering if anyone has experience with inclusion in the middle school and, if so, would you be willing to share how your school works their program?

I was a TA in a middle school

One year we had 4 spec ed students in 1 grade (it was a small district). The students were grouped into 2's (the 2 groups had the same schedule) Each period I went to one class (where there would be 2 of the sepec ed students) and the Spec ed Teacher would go to the other class that had the other 2 students.

The students would participate in class as best they could. TA/Teacher would modify the work as it was done, ie: only have our children answer 5 questions not all 10. We would modify the HW while we were in there. If students were in group tasks we would join the group and help our Spe Ed students and the rest of the group. If we were doing a review in the class or just independent work (that took a long time) We would pull the students into another room and work with them there. We always walked around the room and helped everyone, So we would make sure your Spec ed students were doing the work, but also the rest of the class.

Our Spec. ed kids didnt feel isolated and all the gen ed kids would beg to come work with us when we pulled groups. There was no "ewww im not working with XXX" or "oh look he has to work with the teacher"

Im curious to know how the roles of the reg ed teacher and spec ed teacher are defined in various districts...

for middle school in my district, the gen ed teacher is more of the "expert" and the spec ed teacher does the modifying/meeting the IEP goals. the spec ed teacher often goes to several different subjects with the students. after a while though, many of them take on more of an active role in the teaching of the content.

it's very different than in elementary school where BOTH teachers teach the content and modify

I teach inclusion at the high school level and I teach one subject (English) with one teacher for two periods per day. We really do co-teach. Sometimes one of us teaches and the other walks around, sometimes we teach together and jump in on each other. There are many techniques. BUt we share all of the responsibilities. Sometimes we even finish each other's sentences.

I teach Middle/High school Living environment. What would u like to know?

ETA: I didn't see ur second post. I plan with the gen ed teacher the entire time. The only time that the students know IM the sped teacher is when Im reading them their tests or giving them their mods. Otherwise...We co - teach in every sense of the word! Plan all our lessons together, grade together...Do different types of teaching (i.e. station teaching, parallel teaching etc)
