I wanted to be surprised by i think i saw the baby's sex....
i went in today for the results of my ultra screen. all is well thank goodness. on the way out i asked the doc to see the baby's heart beat (i'll be 13 wks tmrw). as he was showing me i thought i noticed it was a boy..i said OMG is it a boy. the doc said...ugh i wish you didnt notice that. it still could be too eraly to tell though. i'm kinda bummed i wanted to be surprised. does anyone know if it truly is too early to tell at 13 weeks? it's okay to be honest! i'll be over joyed with either M/F i just wanted to be surprised!!!!

Honestly it could be anything. It could be the cord or his/her hands and what not

at 13 weeks the genitals still look pretty ambiguous, although if it's really obvious you may be able to differentiate... i'm sorry if your surprise got ruined

Honestly, 13 weeks is really early even for a trained sonographer to tell the sex. Of course, you do have a 50/50 chance of being right, but I wouldn't start buying blue yet.

I thought I saw a penis in week 30 which was significantly more visible then week 13. I told the dr that it was a boy...he just laughed I swore that I saw a penis. Well guess what...it was the umbilical cord. I have a beautiful baby girl

The technician told me at my ultrascreen that it was a boy and 5 weeks later I found it was a girl. So who knows...

Like others said, it's really to early to be sure. Also, I thought--no, I was convinced--I saw *something* at my ultrasound. Guess what...we had a girl!!

i thought i was having a boy and saw the sex at 12 weeks and it ended up being the umbillical cord instead a penis so i wouldnt go by that. the tech told me at 12 weeks you really cannot tell.

At 12/13 weeks my friend was told she was having a boy at a sono and then at her Level 2 found out it was a girl. That is real early to see something at my 12 week sono my dr said they can't tell at that time and laughed at the question - maybe it wasn't what you thought....

We didn't want to know either, and at 12 weeks, the technician said she wouldn't be able to tell anyway. The organs are not developed fully.
So don't worry, the surprise is still there!!

This happened to DH and I at our level II. We didn't want to know (well I didn't and DH agreed to wait) but it was obvious. We are excited to know! 13 weeks may be too early to tell so I wouldn't worry.

13 weeks is too early. Like others have said, you have a 50-50 chance of being right so even if you ARE having a boy, it doesn't mean that what you saw were necessarily boy parts.
Everyone thought I was having a boy based on my first sonogram (12 1/2 wks), because my daughter has a very big and centrally located umbilical cord.

At this point in time it is too early to tell, but I know how you are feeling. I totally didn't want to know and wanted to be surprised, but I unfortunately my amnio results were transposed onto a report that they had no business being on and there in black and white it said 46X? with the ? being the answer to is it a  or  .
I have been sitting on the secret for @ 10 full weeks. Over the weekend DH asked what it was and I wouldn't tell him, and he asked who knew. I don't think he believed me when I said I haven't told anyone.

when i was at an ultrasound, I was convinced I saw a boy part. Well, I def. saw a cord, because the dr. said "its definitely a girl"
So, unless you are a dr. and know how to read sonos - you may well still be surprised

Its not too early. They tell you it is because you cant be sure that early. But they can guess around 11-12 what your having :) Youd just be darn lucky to find a doc that will actually tell you. But, if you had a vaginal ultrasound then you have a greater chance of being able to tell the sex than with one on top of your stomach.

not to be rude but it doesnt take a doc to be able to read ultrasound pics. Once youve been down that road a time or two before and had multiple ultrasounds done and asked ?s on top of it, you learn to tell what body parts your looking at real quick.

DS was pretty obviously a boy at my Ultrascreen. I had mine done by a perinatalogist and he said sometimes these things are more obvious than others. Altough he said he would bet $ on it being a boy he said there was still a small chance of him being wrong. I had an additional sonogram done at 14 weeks+ and the technician told me that the baby was definitely a boy..she basically said the same thing the doctor did about sometimes these things are more obvious than others..

i wasn't really sure what i was seeing b/c it's my first pregnancy. i haven't been down this road before. so i figured asking the doctor was best......

I actually just had a sono on Monday (13 weeks) and specifically asked the technician if she could see anything. She said that she did see something and pointed it out on the screen but said it was too early to be sure since it could be a penis or a clitoris at this point. She didn't even mention the cord.
