Work from home?

I would love to have a job that I work from home. Since I am having a baby in October it would be nice to stay home.

I don't know where to look for something like this but if I could be an at home typist for a business. Not exactly a medical transcriber but typing documents.

I think I am wishful thinking Chat Icon

Re: Work from home?

I also would love to work from home...I'll be having the baby in November so I don't plan on returning to my job...but, to make extra money I just wish I could find something to do at home...

Re: Work from home?

I have a 1 year old, and after I had him, my company let me work PT from home. I thought it would be a breeze, but its not! I feel like I am working 2 jobs, especially since I don't have anyone to care for Andrew while I am "working" at home. BUt I am grateful my company let me do this (I am an engineering consultant) because as you stated, there aren't many things to do from home PT. Good Luck to you!

Re: Work from home?

I can't do my job from home and working part time isn't a lot of money.

Re: Work from home?

i WORK FROM HOME - going on 1 year now. It's not nearly as great as people seem to think it will be. My company moved to Florida last July and set me up with a home office. It is in my basement. I have my dog for company. I go out at lunch time every day just to have some human contact.

It is loney and can be very boring. Talking on the phone with clients or co-workers is not the same as having people around you. Even though my co-worker and I had rough times together, we miss each other so much now.

People think if you work from home you have free time all the time. Well, I sit at my desk at 9am and since everything is right here (phone, fax, printer, files) I sometimes don't even get up until noon or later. In the afternoon it's the same thing. I also find myself checking my email and fax machine on the weekends. My SIL asked if I wanted to take kick-boxing with her over "spring break": 10 am Mon-Friday. I was like, um, hello!! I actually WORK....

There are some benefits, like I make Dr. apts. for whenever I want - not stuck to a "lunch hour" or "after hours" but since I am in sales, I usually made my own hours anyway.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck. Some poeple suggest actually getting a p/t job after having a baby just to have the adult contact.... We'll see, hopefully I will be in that boat not too far down the road!

It sounds like a dream job!!! I know the grass is always greener but, I would love your job. I guess I am sick of the inter office bs...gossip, etc. especially when you work in an office filled with women.
