when do you switch out fo the infant car seat??

So when did you change over from the infant car seat? We have the Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat Lotus Red which attaches to our bugaboo, but it says that its for infants 5 to 22 lbs and less than 29” tall, DS is now 25" and 15lbs, so soon enough we he will not fit in this seat anymore.

What is the next level because it looks like the next level in car seats are for toddlers but DS is not a toddler he is just 4 1/2 months old, I am so confused???

I went from infant to the larger one at 13 months.

You probably have more time than you think before your son is 22 lbs.

I switched DD#1 around 8 months and DD#2 is still in the carrier at 5 months now. The convertible carseats look like they're for toddlers, but actually you can use most of them from birth.

We swtiched at about 15 1/2 months

But we had the Graco Safeseat - which goes up to 30lb or 32 inches tall

I switched my DD from her infant seat to her Roundabout when she was just shy of 6 months old. She was very tall and looked so uncomfortable.

Julia went to the larger carseat at 5 months. She just got to heavy to carry in the infant one.

DD is almost 10 months and she's not quite there but close - 20lbs and 28" long. We are switching her this month. We have the snugride.

my car seat says 20lbs or 26 inches long
DD is 17lbs 11oz and 27 1/2 inches long

we switched her out around 8 mos old. She is still rear facing though

we switched to our roundabout at 11 months...she was almost 20 pounds... but we hadn't taken the infant seat out of the car since maybe 8 months? She rarely fell asleep in it in the car anymore and it was getting heavy and pointless to carry back and forth...once we switched to the roundabout, she falls alsleep maybe 2-3 times a week.

Oh should also mention that after 6 months or so, they start gaining weight more slowly so you may not HAVE to switch as soon as you may think, but I'd start looking into convertible seats soon anyway.

My son was too small for his infant seat at 4 months!

I switched when he was exactly one year old.

I had to switch my DS at around 2 1/2 months - he hated the infant carseat. We have the Britax Marathon and love it!

My ds is 8mos and I plan on making the switch by this weekend. His car seat only goes up to 20lbs and at his 6mo check up he was 18 so I'm figuring he's about 20lbs now. The next car seat I will be putting him in is 20-40lbs but I will continue to face him towards the seat and at 1yrs old I'll turn it around.

We just did it last week, a week before DD was 6 months old. She just looked way too snug in there, and that thing was getting too heavy for me to lug up and down our stairs!

We switched DD at 8 months - she wasn't the weight or height yet but it was still heavy to carry!

We switched when DS was 4 months old and he loves being in the larger seat with more room... And I love it because I have a little butterball and he was getting way too big for me to carry.

we switched Aly from the Graco carrier to an evenflo convertible at about 9 or 10 mths. she is very tall and was outgrowing it length wise. I was glad to get rid of it - it was soo heavy!!

I want to say about 7 months old. I have the Chicco which has heavier/longer requirements than most, but she's a big girl and I just couldn't carry it.

I think DS will be in it for a while....he is 15lbs at 5.5 months. I kind of want him to get through the winter in it so I don't have to carry him around in the snow, etc.
