kitchen floor ideas?
We have decided to wait on redoing our kitchen. I want to do a quick refresh just to keep myself happy for the next 2-3yrs. Currently the cabinets are nice, but I am looking for floor ideas.
Anyone use those tiles that stick etc? we currently have linoleum and it is killing me...I want to rip it up!

Re: kitchen floor ideas?
We used the sticky tiles from HD to do a "mini-update" on our kitchen. They were still in decent shape when we totally redid our kitchen. We had the sticky tile for just over 2 years before we were able to do the kitchen.
It was nice to have fresh flooring down. It brightened up the kitchen and I didn't skeeve walking on it! It was easy to keep clean and cheap, too. We had a tiny kitchen so it only cost us $75 to do it.

Re: kitchen floor ideas?
laminate flooring. we just did this in our house for the apartment (LR & BR). It came out great. It was installed in one day and was really inexpensive.

Re: kitchen floor ideas?
We did the sticky tiles and are very happy with it.
DH installed them one morning while I was working from home. It took about 2 hrs and cost about $67 and definitely made a difference.
Like the above poster said - we no longer skeeve walking on the kitchen floor and it's quick and easy.

The peel-n-sticks are very easy. DH did it in an evening. It makes such a huge difference.
I have pictures in my album of DH putting in the tiles.

One more quick question, did you take up the other floor first?

We didn't take up our other floor, we put it on top of our old floor.

Re: kitchen floor ideas?
we used the stick down tiles in our old kitchen to do the same thing- it was a quick, easy, cheap update to keep us happy. we ended up selling the house about a year later, so it was good that it looked nice and fresh for that. they were easy to put down- DH did it himself. it took one evening to take up the old linoleum and clean the sub floor, and then the next evening he was able to put most of them down. the hardest part was cutting the ones for the edges and corners. we were really happy with how they came out- brightened up the room, and were really easy to keep clean. hardly showed any of the dog hair and dirt. and i think we spent about $100-$150 total- not too bad!!

Re: kitchen floor ideas?
We ripped up the old floor but you don't really have to. Our's were pretty easy to rip up.

yeah.. i think DH got some special adhesive stuff.. almost looked like white paint, to coat the floor first... but it wasnt necessary, he just wanted to do it. the tiles themselves have adheseive on them, too.
