Vinny is SO sick!!!
He has a BAD cold... He can't breathe, he has trouble sleeping through the night because he can't breathe through his nose and snores so much. He has a really scratchy voice and a pretty bad cough. He sneezes from time to time but that's not as bad.
Things we have tried and he is currently taking:
-Dayquil during the day
-Nyquil at night
-Sudafed
-"No Time for a Cold" 24 Hour Knock Out Remedy
-I make him a tea with Airborne each night
-Vitamin C's - 500 mgs - twice daily
-Chicken soup each night
Is there ANYTHING else I can do for him? I'm going to pick up Vick's Vapor-rub this afternoon after it sounded like there was a BEAR in our bedroom last night.
I'm worried sick because we leave Friday for Florida and I don't want him to be sick as a dog on his vaca.

he should go to the doc...it may be something that some antibiotics can help.

Vicks Vapo RUb works wonders. Do you have a vaporizer? That also helps a lot.

My Mom has a vaporizer I could borrow! It looks like it is from the 70's and it may have been recalled lol but we have had that thing forever and it works pretty good!!
Yeah, he really should go to the doctor  but because he is working from 7am-7pm everyday up until the day we leave (and we are flying out very early) I don't even know if he would have time for an appointment. Since he is taking days off for the vaca it might be hard. I'll have to look into that. I wish I knew a Doctor with late hours.

get the vicks vaporizer with the medicine. i use that on DH when he's sick and it works like a charm. the room smells a bit minty for a few hours but its worth it!

does he take oxford?? 
it would just be nice to get him in-- if it is something that can be treated w/ antibiotics-- so he has a hope in hell of feeling better by friday.

i'd rather have it smell that way than SOUND like we are in the middle of a ZOO.
i literally got ZERO sleep last night because about every 20-30 seconds...

Dayquil/Nyquil does nothing for me....I use an OTC allergy pill like claratin....If he's that miserable he prob. needs a doc visit and some antibiotics.....hope he gets some relief soon.....

I have used this recipe for a bad cough and cold and it works fantastically well (plus, it doesn't taste bad). I found it online a while ago and tried it and swear by it...
1/4 tsp ginger powder
1/4 tsp cayenne powder
1 tbs honey
1 tbs apple cider vinegar
2 tbs water
Mix it all together and drink. It works.

Actually, I called to ask what the latest hours were at our office and they said they just instituted evening hours recently- with the NP, not the Doc, but still- evening hours on Wednesdays until 8pm!!!
Finally filling out those "comment" cards has paid off b/c they listened to my gripes!! LOL!
Thank you so much though- I would have never thought to call and see b/c they never had them before!

I know that my doctor recommend Advil Cold & sinus over Day Quill he says it is stronger and more affective.
Also that Zicam nose swabs really do help cut the time of the cold down.
Also vicks on the bottom of your nose really helps open the nose up.
My DH had a horrible cold last week and this is what we used and the cold only lasted aobut 3 days.

Go to the Dr. would probably be your first step. They can perscribe him with meds that are much stronger than anything you can get over the counter.

Hope Vinny starts to feel better!!!
When I was sick, I took airborne and tylenol SEVERE cold syrup. They make it for daytime and nighttime and I was able to function at work and sleep at night. It went away in about a week.
