Yoga Review...

I LOVE IT!!!!

Thank you to all who suggested it when i was looking to loose a few lbs and didn't know what to do.

Well it not only has given me something to do other than workout and sweat like crazy...but it has relaxed me, given me new perspective, i feel stronger and it is helping my running as well.

It hasn't been that long, but I love my studio and feel strong enough to train for the half marathon in the spring and maybe NYC marathon again next year! Chat Icon Chat Icon I have been struggling with injuiries all year...deferring my NYC entry till next year and feel yoga will give me what I need to prevent further injury and build strength!

ETA: I almost forgot...I have lost weight...it can be the yoga but I have also been under a lot of stress...so the two coupled I feel are the reason for that!

Re: Yoga Review...

I'm taking my first class next tuesday and I'm very excited. I've gained a few pounds, been stressed and just feel so achy sometimes and I really hope Yoga will help me !!

So what should I wear, what should I expect and do you think once a week is enough to make a difference ??

I wear yoga type pants...something fitted and not too long. I wear a sports bra and tank top.

Expect to do a lot of stretching and to be using your arm muscles a lot. It was very humbling for me to see how little strength I really have in my upper body. Lower body too...lunges and such were harder than expected. I felt uncomfortable the first and second time but now I feel like I am getting it. Don't worry about how you look...nobody around you cares...do the best that you can do...it's individual and you will have good days and bad. I try to stay very much in the moment and centered and kind to myself. Listen to your body and if something hurts...don't push it...modify the pose for your level.

Go as much as you can...once a week is better than never!!

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I think I am starting a new one soon....We'll compare notes. If you do it definitely go for the reformer...not the mat--Reformer will kick your azz...

Re: Yoga Review...

Great! Yoga (Vinyasa, flow) can really get your heart going so you do get some mild cardio; my arms are so toned now, too...it's great for toning and shaping the body. You really feel lean and strong when you go a lot...I do it like 4/5 days a week.
