We have all this little bugs in our house...
We have these little black bugs in my house, they are crawling on the wall near my bay window--I tried to identify them on the net but I can't find them anywhere-Any suggestions on what we should do before we call the exterminator???

Can you take a photo of them? Maybe someone else has them.

Re: We have all this little bugs in our house...
Ok check around for any food items that may have gotten hidden (through pets or children).
I have seen these in my kitchen once ina while, and then if I search a cabinet I find an old food item that has gone bad.
My neighbor just had them and she said they were all over her basement. I told her to search her basement and sure enoguh, she found a bag that had a travel bag of dogfood and when she opened that they were all in there.
That is the only suggestion I have. But it worked for us.
The bugs we have seen were small, black, hard shelled, they don't move fast, just kind of hang out on a surface. Crunch when you crush them, about the size of pencil tip or so.

Those are mytes...I had them not long ago...they are harmless and will go away on their own. I just bought insect soap and would spray around where they were...and after a few days they went away.

Re: We have all this little bugs in our house...
i agree with the idea of looking in your all your cabinets and everywhere for any food items that might be opened. we kept seeing these a couple years ago, too... they are very small, don't move fast, just kind of hang out. i looked around, and found out that they were coming from an old bag of dog bones that i had in the closet. once we threw them out and sprayed... they were gone! i think they also can hang out in old flour, or pancake mixes, etc.... good luck!!

Ah, yes!!! Maybe she will find something somewhere when she checks. Good to know it wasn't just us here.

Yes they are mites and they are commonly found near windows/window treatments. They will go away within the next few weeks as it gets colder but they will reappear during the warmer months. They are harmless, however if you have pets just watch out because mites do effect birds and other pets.
