Which Uggs are in right now?

To be honest, I don't think any Uggs are "in" right now. That being said, I have 2 pairs and I love them for their warmth and comfort.
I have a pair of the classic short in chestnut (not mini) and the classic tall in a more unusual color combo (wine/purple with pale blue trim -- my sorority colors) 
I personally would go with the short or tall over the mini. I wear my Uggs primarily for warmth and I'd be afraid my ankles would be freezing in the mini, even if it's what's trendy right now.
I'm thinking about getting a pair of classic tall in black.

Exactly. Uggs haven't been "in" for a few years already. But I also love them and wear mine for comfort and warmth. I commute in mine throughout the winter (nothing beats UGGS when you are standing at the bus stop in Feb.) I say get the ones you think are cutest and don't worry about being in.

I got the classic tall in chocolate. I am tall and the short ones look like slippers on me.

I swear by my Uggs slippers, they are so comfortable! I always feel like I am walking on clouds wherever I go when I am wearing them.
Obviously, these slippers are suitable for in-house wear and/or quick errands, not really winter appropriate!!

yes, order a size down unless you plan to wear them with socks. they are meant to be worn without socks though. i am a 7/7.5 and wear a 6 in uggs.

I have 2 pairs of the tall UGG boots. I have pretty long legs and don't think the short ones look good on me.

i have classic short and the cargo tall from last year
about being "in" - i think the number of women wearing them on the streets says more than any magazine telling you they're "out"
