Im back from my 2 week vacation!!
My DH and I went on a 2 week vacation...last time we did that was 6 years ago for our honeymoon!
We Left on 10/20 and flew to San Diego. We stayed at a Hyatt in Mission Bay which was right on the water and absolutely beautiful!!! The hotel doesn?t have a restaurant right now?they are renovating, so for dinner we walked across the street to the other hotel and ate there. In the afternoon, the hotel sent up a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary. It was so nice! The hotel stay also included breakfast the next morning and it was a fantastic buffet?including an omelet bar. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
We then took a cab to the Convention Center, which is where we had to check in for the cruise. There were too many ships leaving at the same time so we had to check in at the convention center then be bused over to the dock. Because I did not know the SD area that well, we left the hotel at 11:15 to go to the convention center, figuring it would take us like 20-25 mins. it took 12 minutes to get there! LOL needless to say I was afraid that we were going to have to wait a long time for check in?but when we got out of the cab, they took our luggage and we went right in to the check in line?which there was NONE! I was very surprised but I think they started to check people in early because they then had to be bussed over to the pier. We were on the ship by 12:10!! Woooo Hoooo we went to get something to eat and by the time we finished walking around and went back to our cabin, our luggage was there!! Another plus for Princess!!
We had a balcony room, which for our next cruise I will never have a room without a balcony! It was great!
Our 3 ports of call were Cabo San Lucas, Matazalan, and Puerto Vallarta. They were all fantastic and we would definitely go back to them. The median age for the passengers was in the early 50?s and not too many kids.
The weather was perfect everyday. The first night out of SD, it was a little rough on the seas but the rest of the trip it was like glass!! We chose anytime dining which meant we could go to the dining room anytime to eat for dinner between 5:30-10pm. It was great for us since we like to eat late but could still catch the 10:15 shows
I highly recommend Princess to anyone wanting to take a cruise! They are the best!!
When we got off of the cruise, we stayed in SD for another week. By the time we got back to SD on the 28th, the fires were almost all out and it didn't?t stop us from seeing anything except the Wild Animal Park (it's a drive through Safari) that was damaged in the fires and some of the animals had to be moved.
We went to the Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park and the USS Midway. We loved it all.
I was so amazed at how clean all the streets were, but was VERY disappointed in the number of homeless people in the area. It really took away from the beauty of the place with people sleeping all over the place.
We ate at the "famous" In-N-Out Burger...FANTASTIC! I was so impressed by the operation and how polite and competent the workers were?I think they need to teach some of the kids around here how to act on the job!
Anyway, we had a FANTASTIC time and here are some pics!!

Looks like you had a great time! We were on the Dawn Princess last Spring when we went to Alaska.

I totally agree I too will never have a room without a balcony. So incredably amazing.

What a great trip! The hotel room in SD looks so pretty and I love the view from your balcony on the cruise. And the church in Mazatlan looks amazing! Glad to hear you had a wonderful time!
